Any tips on how to keep a team from "measuring" their opponent would be appreciated. Just gave away a tournament to a team that we should beat 99 out of 100 due to total slop on D. No focus at all but then come back the following game (15 minutes later) and run rule a superior opponent to the first. Good business for Anheiser Busch but getting tough on my wife ... Big Grin
An educated man went to visit a Zen master. He wished to learn what the Zen master knew. The master invited him in for tea and listened as his visitor told of his outstanding education. As the visitor talked on and on about his long and valuable education, the Zen master began pouring more tea for the man, until his cup was overflowing and the tea was spilling onto the man and onto the floor. “Stop,” the man said, “My cup is already too full; it cannot hold anymore.” “Yes,” said the Zen Master.

One thing I tried several years ago was to not let my team watch the other teams take IF / OF warm ups. Like you we were playing in a tournament and played a vastly inferior team and were beat. During their IF / OF my guys were watching and you could see them lose focus.

Next day we played a team which made it to the final four and we beat them by 4 runs after I banned my team from watching them take IF / OF. We still lost some games that year but it wasn't from a lack of focus.
