ANGUS — An early morning accident has claimed the life of an area youth, the result of a pickup plunging into Richland Creek at the southern city limits of Angus.

The victim has been identified by authorities as Jacob Howard, 19, of Lovelady.

Divers from the Lewisville Search and Rescue team discovered Howard's body shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday in about 50 feet of water.

The accident occurred sometime before 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to law enforcement, when they responded to a report of a man walking along Interstate 45 in a pair of boxer shorts.

The man, Aaron Brewer, 18, of Red Oak, said he was the passenger in the truck driven by Howard.

According to Highway Patrol Trooper Carlon Stapleton, the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on the east service road when they went through a barricade at a dead end and traveled about 20 more yards into Richland Creek.
