Does anyone use polarized lenses while umpiring? If you do how do you like them? Positives vs negatives? Can you see the ball better in flight towards the outfield? or over the fence? Can you see the ball better while calling balls and strikes?

I tried them behind the plate and could see only strikes.
You are too good Dash .....Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I wear prescription lenses with transition lenses so sort of,yes. There are many that wear sunglasses of one type or the other. I believe Oakley makes one that has different lenses that you can change. Evidently the yellow lens works really well at night. I can get info if you like.
MST I wear prescription glasses also and have been wearing rx sunglasses. I want to get Rx Polarized to eliminate glare on balls hit to the outfied.
I was going to buy polarized Oakleys for my son but the salesrep told me there would be an issue with depth perception and recommended to stick with a regular lense.
WOW, mdschert, I have to really look into that!

To be succinct, he's stupid.
Hey Matt - would you care to elaborate a little here. Your post is really not helpful
mdschert,
As far as I can tell, the notion that polarized lenses adversely affect depth perception is persistent but unvalidated folklore. Google around and see if you agree.
Thanks Swampboy I have been looking around and find a lot of mixed reactions ....I am going to try them and see for myself!

Yep. He's telling you something that's false (stupid) that potentially cost him a sale (even more stupid.)
I wear the Oakley Half-jackets and have for a few years now....behind the plate, I have never experienced any issues with depth perception....
I wear bifocal, transition prescription lenses. I rig concerts motors for a living. I can stand at a mark on the floor, site it to a fifty foot ceiling and be accurate to two inches or less. I believe I have depth perception.
MST I too wear bifocals now I am going to try polarized bifocals from pearl vision. I just can't wait to try them out! I hope I do not have any problem with depth perception.....I do not think I will, so far they seem great.
