As much as i would vote for Johan for anything isn't he left handed? Jeff Kent should be the 2nd baseman and why is bonds not on the list, i agree with most of the list except ramirez, bonds and ichiro should be the outfield and kent at 2b. you can't say it is the roids keeping bonds off the list for 1 manny is on the list and to my knowledge bonds still hasn't officially been caught.

1B - Albert Pujols
*Todd Helton is often forgotten-great hitter

2B - Jeff Kent
*Overlooked, Steve Carlton's personality, great hitter

3B - Alex Rodriguez
*Don't forget Chipper Jones

SS - Derek Jeter
*Nothing else needs to be said

LF - Barry Bonds
*Manny would be 2nd

CF - Andruw Jones
*Clearly most dominate CF of decade offensively and defensively until big fall-off last couple years

RF - Ichiro Suzuki
*Amazing #'s, smart, style maximizes his abilities

DH - Jim Thome
*A true DH, 2nd to AROD in HRs for the decade

C - Joe Mauer
*IRods best years were before 2000, Piazza was still pretty strong thru 1st half of decade

*Most dominate LHP of decade, Petite consistent

*A beast on mostly bad to average teams

1B Todd Helton - did it for more of the decade than Pujols.
2B, Jeff Kent - Should be a no-brainer on all lists, perhaps the most offensively dominant 2nd baseman of all-time.
SS - Derek Jeter.
3B - Alex Rodriguez
LF - Barry Bonds.
CF- Andruw Jones
RF - Ichiro Suzuki
DH - Frank Thomas And I'd argue that David Ortiz could be right there too for what he's done on those Red Sox teams
RHP- Roy Halladay
LHP - Johan Santana
Closer -Mariano Rivera
Manager - Bobby Cox

The no-brainer for Kent are:
- an unknown in the 1990's
- had a terrific first half of the 2000's (MVP 2000)

PS, when will Utley be inducted into HOF? I suspect Kent will be around 2015, or shortly thereafter.

The BBWAA does not have a residence criteria for
voting for HoF candidates.

Given that Utley is from CA and could play another 12+ years, I see a first round ballot in 2026!

You have stated that Kent will not be
a first or second (or maybe third) ballot HoF.

Think about Alomar being the next HoF 2b and a first ballot Hall of Famer.

As much as I think Helton has been a very good player, this is just wrong. Pujols missed one year of the decade, and still won the decade triple crown, leading in average, home runs, and RBI for the decade. So even though Helton had one more year, he actually did less with it than Pujols.

I'm a fan of Utley as well but watchout for Ian Kinsler...this kid is special!

OK, I stand corrected on that one. Heck, I'm sure that's not the only one I can be corrected on, as other posts have shown, although I still stand by Jeff Kent. Alomar is another great, at this point I think we're splitting hairs.

I think Kent is a hall of famer.Hes my choice for 2nd base.
Jones is a good CF, but my son and I choose Tory Hunter.

Torii Hunter is one of the best Of in the game and a 2010 All-Decade candidate in Dec 2019, should his numbers be as consistent after 40 y/o. Reminds me a lot like Fred Lynn. Plus Torii's charity work excels.

Kinsler is also a 2010 All-Decade candidate in Dec 2019 and after his 30+ taters in 2009 reminds me numbers put up by Alfredo Soriano.

Whoa, 3up, I thought it was funny as heck. I had no issue with it, which is why I put the wink behind my comeback. No worries on my end. I was actually looking for a better emoticon with a bunch of those little guys jumping up and down, but couldn't find one.

I'm fine with his humor, we're both maybe about half a bubble off from what I've learned over the years.
