Have some 15u boys in the heart of our lineup who see a buttload of curveballs. Would it be beneficial to hire an individual to actually throw curveball practice to our guys or are there drills or devices out there that can simulate curveballs that could help the boys while not costing an arm and a leg?

Most batting lessons just don't cover hitting the curveball from what I have seen.

Thanks anonymous HS Baseball Web patrons!!!

Go online at baseball express and order the bucket of curveballs. I think it comes with 3 dozen. They are usually on sale this time of year with free shipping. Wink

I will re-phrase lest a multitude of coaches dogpile my hitting instructor...or me!!! On a rare occasions we have done the delay tee drill...he is a reputable instructor and assume there is method to the madness. Maybe my son has other holes that maybe we weren't ready for more curveball work possibly...or maybe he focuses more on hitting the fastball as to not need to hit the curve? Not casting aspersions on his instruction at all...just looking for other ways to get curveball work in.

15u high level big kid. Rarely sees many fastballs most pitches are offspeed and low and away. Pretty selective hitter but obviously hitting the curve will get him more fastballs to drive.

They are on the same page a the left handed fungo and the keys to the batter's box. It's always fun when we ask the freshman during tryouts to go to the equipment shed to get those 3 things for us. Some of the things they bring back are hilarious!!!

Seriously though, lessons aside, tell him to go up there looking for a curveball. After he sends one whizzing by the pitchers ear, he will get his fastball!
