My understanding is that they just don't have the personnel to handle the influx of early applications. Last year most schools had record number of early applicants putting a great deal of pressure on admissions departments.

Harvard's official statement is that early admissions gives advantage to the advantaged.....and works against minority enrollemnt.....and/or the disadvantaged......
Well, now everyone will be disadvantaged............
Personally, I never liked the fact that most early admission programs required the student to withdraw all applications from other universities. That is a one way street in the favor of the university with the early admission program.
TR - Do you know if it will affect athletic recruiting? Or will they still give an early read for student athletes?
