post-graduate year?

i'm a very good student (4.25 GPA, 36 ACT) who happened to have unfortunately skipped a grade. i'm competitive for being a rising junior who just turned 16--79-83 MPH FB as a LHP who made multiple top tier travel teams for the upcoming summer--however, i'd really like to play D1 baseball. does anyone know any really good post-grad schools? i'm not open to junior college, and though i know it may help others, it's not a route i'm willing to explore. thanks.

Phillips Academy at Andover, they have a post-grad year, just outside of Boston. I am looking into the school. I hear it is a rigorous academic schedule though.

i can deal with rigorous, lol. just started a 3 AP schedule this year and i'll have seven next year. i have friends who went there as well who reported positive things but also had reservations about the snobby attitudes there.

I know kids from the school, not snobs at all. They don't mention too many snobby people either. Do you have a feild position besides pitcher? What are your hitting numbers like? And what colleges are you looking at?

i play a bit of outfield; i'm good defensively, and i have good speed and good hitting fundamentals but i'm a terribly mediocre hitter when it comes down to it. ummm basically academic d3's like washu, uchicago, ill. wesleyan, caltech, mit, and then some ivies.

I have thought about Chicago U myself, for their financing program, but most of the Ivies are D1, and they are a unique system in that, they are D1, but there are no athletic scholarships awarded, so there is a bit of a more level playing feild, I have looked into Harvard before, and they have a strong baseball program up there.

With the D1 rules which are going into effect, and which will affect you, taking a year of post graduate school is unlikely to work out for D1 baseball. See post #10 in this thread.
The rule doesn't take effect if you skipped a grade after entering your freshman year of high school, and can also be gotten around by not playing baseball in the summer after the PG year. It's really hard to get recruited if the college only has your PG baseball games to go on.

Are they trying to kill the PG programs? They do serve a valuable purpose for some kids. Used extensively in football and basketball to aid in physical and emotional maturity as well as better prepare some students academically for college.

They don't call it the National Collegiate Association against Athletes for nothing.

Note that a football player could get in a semester of football at a PG school then enroll in college and not lose any football eligibility to speak of.
