Over the last week, I've unsuccesfully looked for, and am now fairly confident that P/PA is not yet a downloadable MLB stat. But in looking for this data I found this interesting analysis:

http://baseballanalysts.com/archives/2006/02/swinging_taking.php

My favorite quote from this work: "players who swing more often at the first pitch are, therefore, less likely to get good pitches to hit."

What I really want to see however, and the only two things that really matter, is a definative analysis between P/PA and run scoring and ultimately between P/PA and winning.

P/PA impact across age levels would equally interesting.

Just finished the article. Extremely informative. Difficult to digest in one setting. All I can say so far is, it appers that not only will individual hitter's plate discipline help the team [as discussed in the earlier post] but it will also most likely help not only the individual hitter's on base % but maybe his BA and Slugging % too.

Really liked this article, but the thing with almost any stat is the situation. Things like sacrafices, not swinging so the runner can steal, hitting with runners on base (especialy when your trying to hit a fly ball or go to the right side). Also something like a pinch hitter, where their going to swing at the first pitch they can hit hard.
