Has anybody run across a brand of baseball that stands up good in wet grass? I wish somebody would invent a spray that you could coat a leather baseball with that would repel water.

The rubber balls that my son's team practice with are hard on arms. It's like trying to throw a marshmellow Smile. I guess they're good for BP because they're like restricted flight. When they go back to a real ball the ball jumps off the bat.

When the weather's wet, I use the baseball-sized dimpled ATEC pitching machine balls (bright orange and yellow). They are the standard weight and size and do not absorb water. They are also easy to see in low-light conditions early on in the season.

I use them both in the grass and on large spaces of asphalt and concrete (or in the street) to work on things like fielding. They bounce very true and are quite durable.

I also use low-bounce outdoor hockey balls to work with my infielders on staying down on the ball. They will absolutely stick to the ground, no matter how hard you throw them into the ground.
