One of the problems with BP is the coach who is pitching can't hit the ocean with a ball. I tell kids I work with that when your hitting BP to only hit strikes even if it upsets the guy throwing. Most kids during BP try to hit everything and it may be the same in a game.
Adjust your thinking to game mentality, focus better and just try not to do too much. It should help.
Excellent advice COACHBLU25. If I might add my 2 cents. Use BP for some purpose. One idea is to work on being as selective as you would be in a game as COACHBLU25 has suggested. Another is to work as if you had 2 strikes and try to fight off close pitches and put the ball in play. Still another is to re-familiarize yourself with the proper mechanics by having someone [a teamate, coach, etc.] watch you for certain trends that YOU ask them to watch for. Things that you know you have a tendency to not do exactly right.

For example: Is my head down at contact? Is my lowerbody, upperbody and hands/arms in sync or is one significantly ahead or behind of the others? If I am off balance when I swing, what part of my swing is leading to this imbalance? There are countless other similar concerns that only you know you should be working on.

Bottom line 999jh, have some purpose before you walk into the cage and that should help with the confidence. Good luck and keep us informed.
