He's one of the good guys around here - always offering positive encouragement and thoughtful advice.  His son is a talented infielder for Arizona State.  I don't know what his ailment is exactly, but I just saw a picture of him on my facebook page where he is recovering from surgery.

Please send thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.  Thanks!

I very much appreciated the positive thoughts and prayers. They mean more than you might know and they have helped a lot. I had a very difficult operation to remove my right kidney. Reports from the doctors could not be better. I am fortunate not only to have such supportive friends and family, but a talented surgeon who has made sure I will be well for years to come. My job now is to take great care of the left kidney, a task for which Mr. Bortnick will provide important guidance and inspiration. Thank you all very, very much. What an amazing community we have here.

I am glad to see that jemaz is feeling better.  I hope I can be an inspiration to him and a positive message of healing for everyone.  This much I know.  We've been lied to in this country about healthy eating habits and lifestyles.  It led to my heart disease and I won't speculate for jemaz but I have strong suspicions.  We've made ourselves sick in this land of plenty and that saddens me.

The good news is that we can fix ourselves.  God bless jemaz and everyone else out there who is suffering.

You are 100% correct.

There are so many bad things added to the things that we eat on an everyday basis, anyone know that story of the boy who went up against Gatorade because one of the ingredients is deadly?

Didn't mean to get off the subject, I am very glad to hear that Jemaz made it through a very difficult operation!

Probably not as fun now as it sounded a few weeks ago with Arizona's recent play. There is a rumor that if we win 2 of 3 next weekend and sweep USC we'll get a bid, but I'm skeptical. I'll look for you on Friday night.

I will look forward to seeing you there, JMoff, but it will have to be Saturday or Sunday. On Friday, I will be in San Diego for my middle son's graduation from the University of San Diego Law School.

Wow, congrats on that wonderful achievement!

At some point these kids need to start providing for us!

Jemaz, I suppose its a credit to ASU's ability to fill the park, but I wandered down there last night and this afternoon and simply couldn't find you.  I walked down the stairs closest to home plate on the 3rd base side but never saw you. I even called your name a few times and all I got in return were dirty looks for my attire. I might've been too early on Saturday, but this afternoon it was around the second inning.

Your son played a great second base and was a tough out. I think my boy threw two complete games in the bullpen, but really didn't get to see any action that mattered.

All three games were VERY entertaining. You guys wouldn't let us blow you out Friday, turning it into a nail biter. You got us late on Saturday in a game that could've gone either way. Today was one of those great college baseball games, in doubt until the very last pitch.

The passion of the rivalry is tremendous, but even more special are the relationships we've built. Several ASU parents who know my son stayed last night to give him a hug on the way to the bus and that was great.

I am sorry I missed you. I should have played closer attention, but I was too mesmerized by the excitement on the field. Tough loss on Sunday for ASU, but it is part of what makes college baseball so great and keeps me coming back. It will take me about a week to get over the disappointment. Cody will be a major part of the Arizona rotation next year, for sure. He has been impressive as a freshman.

Very exciting college baseball weekend for sure.

You guys have Washington next week and my advice is to watch out, they caught us by surprise. Their first two pitchers are much better than their team's record suggests.
