I am asking for all who believe in the power of prayer to take the time to say a prayer for a little boy. I was just informed that he was brought to Duke Med Ctr today after a large mass was found in his chest. It is so large it is inhibiting his ability to breathe. My wife works at the Duke Cancer Center and just called me about this. The little boy's father is a former player of mine. You will not go by the field without seeing Cam with his dad. He is a beautiful little boy full of life and he loves baseball. Please take the time pray for Cam and his family. I have asked for permission from the family to post this so please reach out to our Heavenly Father and ask for his mercy and grace one more time. Thank you so much. I am hurting right now.

Let me give a little background on this situation. Cam's father played for me. I have told his story on here before. When Curt was a Freshman we seriously considered cutting him after tryouts. He was so small and weak. He basically had zero baseball skills. But he had this smile and attitude you couldn't over look. He loved being on the field. He never missed a fall workout that year. He worked so hard. We just couldn't find it in our heart to cut him. So I will fast forward to Curt's Sr year. He is our #2 and was All Conference as a Jr. We are getting ready to play for the conference championship and our #1 pulls something in his back during a bull pen session the day before the game. Curt takes the ball and throws a 2 hitter and we win the championship. He goes on to throw another 2 hitter in the first round of the state's against the #1 ranked team in the state. Curt would go on to have a tremendous college career as a RHP.

After graduating from college Curt was always around the field when he could make it. Finally he took an early morning job driving a truck so he could coach our JV program. Curt took over the HS program as the Head Varsity Coach about 3 years ago. Last year he won the State Championship and has an even better squad coming back. He has taken what we built and not just kept it going. He is taking it to another level. Curt has continued our camps and off season program. He is our boy.

You will not see Curt without Cam. Cam is 8 years old and he drags the field for Dad. He rakes the infield. It's that kind of Father Son relationship that all of us have with our baseball buddies. If you could meet Cam you would see a kid so full of life. So happy all the time. He loves to play baseball and he is really good. A little fire plug just like Dad but way more talented at that age. Curt would love to hear me say that.

I know God is in control. And I know prayer matters. So I wanted to give you a little background. I want to thank all of you for your concern, thoughts and prayers. I will keep you updated as I know more. Right now its just a waiting game. Yesterday I had a flat tire and was in the process of trying to get it to the shop. Just as I was getting a little frustrated with the situation I got this call about Cam. All I could think of was "Shut up you ungrateful idiot. A freaking tire and your upset?" Thanks guys I appreciate your time.
