Thanks so much for letting us know about this. I'll be praying not only for the player and his parents, but also Coach Harp, his assistants, and all the players. I'm sure they are beside themselves.

Prayers for God's healing presence around this young man and his family, friends and teammates.

The players name is Josh Fant. Harris Hospital in Fort Worth started dialisis last night and Josh is in stable condition but is still in a coma.

I found this info via the Grandbury newspaper.

Former Pirate pitcher dies (Posted Today 08:54 pm)
Former Granbury Pirate pitcher Josh Fant died tonight at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth after suffering a heat stroke Monday during the first day of baseball workouts for North Central Texas College in Gainesville.

Fant, who was trying to walk on to the team, was running during a practice and collapsed. After being CareFlited to Harris in Fort Worth Monday, a family member said several attempts were made to give him a kidney dialysis.

Fant helped the Pirates reach the 5A playoffs the past two seasons, primarily as a pitcher and designated hitter. He outdueled Weatherford pitcher Zack Britton--now in the Baltimore Orioles' organization--in a key District 4-5A contest during the 2006 season. Survivors include his parents and two older brothers.

Very sad news. I will pray for Josh's family and friends, and Coach Harp and his players.

May God hold the NCTC coaches, players and administration in the palm of his hand during this sad time.

My prayers are being said for his family, for his current and former teammates/coaches and to all that knew him as a friend/ballplayer.

This has really been a tragic year for quite a few area players of all ages. Condolences to all the families, friends and coaches of all these players..

So sad, but the parents and the players need to learn from this.

I heard this on a radio station on the way to school this morning and just was beside myself with sadness. My thoughts and prayers are with Josh's family and friends and the coaches and players at NCTC.

I am so sad to read this. My heart is breaking for all who knew him.

May he rest in peace.

Prayers .....may God hold him and his close in his hand. Very hard to comprehend the loss of such young lives this year in baseball.

Yes, and coaches. Got some insight from a player that was up there at the time, seems the pitching coach may have to provide some answers to some people on his methods.

I agree with collikar -- let's not take this discussion in a wrong direction. It was a sad tragedy. Unfortunately, it was not the first accident like this one. We can all hope it is the last.

how dare you? coach A. is as fine a person as you will ever meet, a great family man,caring ,personable,distinguished.rumors and blame are not what is needed here.

I am going to close this topic. Please continue to pray for this family, their friends, and everyone involved in the situation. It would be a shame if each and every one of us didn't learn something from this tragedy. I have no doubt that the coaches and players at NCTC are devasted by this loss. Let's not read too much (or too little) into a set of circumstances that are not clear.

I'm sure the family appreciates our support and well wishes.
