What horrible news to wake up to this morning. I will be praying for Craig and his family. Please keep us posted and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

Cougars starter Craig Italiano had five strikeouts through 2 2/3 innings but left the game in the third inning after getting hit on the forehead by a line drive. He was down for a couple of minutes but never lost consciousness, walked off the field under his own power and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Update

Craig has a fractured skull, a small crack where the ball hit. He is surrounded by his family and after being checked again tomorrow, will hopefully go home. He is in pain but still has his sense of humor. He told my husband, a lifelong Cubs fan, that the Cubs still s--k! He won't be able to do anything for 6 weeks and will probably come home for the summer. Craig is one of the finest young men I have ever met and more importantly, a friend and role model of my son. Thank you for all your prayers!

thanks for the update, I have been thinking about Craig all day and praying for the best. That is good news and I will continue to pray for a smooth recovery this summer and a successful return to the mound.

Prayers from Pueblo also. My buddy's son and one of my sons best friends plays for Kane (Mike Massaro) and he said it was pretty scary at the time.

Definitely a pitchers parents worst nightmare (at least while they are on the mound).

Thanks OB-I am in a hotel room in NY and was worried about Craig. If it was not for this site, I would have never known. Prayers from Coppell.

Was glad to be able to meet Craigs mom at the FM vs. Arl.Martin game last night. Please know that Craig has some new found fans in Colleyville. May God continue to hold each of you in his arms.
