At today's Navy/Holy Cross game, in the last inning of play, an errant line drive foul entered the stands and hit a young fan (2-3 years of age) in the head. They stopped the game while paramedics rushed in. The family were "random fans" (not directly related to anyone in the Navy Baseball Family), just out for a family afternoon and the youngster was running the aisles in the stands, doing what little ones do... having fun. CadKID#2 saw it first hand (about 40 ft away) and he and all of the Navy players are all pretty shaken this evening. I just heard the prognosis is not good.

Your prayers everyone please for this young family (they had a baby in a stroller also).

GOOD NEWS!!

Message from Mr. Gladchuck:

For all of us who are concerned. I spoke with Mr. Jackson this morning who is the father of the child (Rowan) who was injured yesterday at the baseball game. He remains in serious condition and the doctors will know more as the day goes on. They’ll be doing a CAT scan to determine if surgery may be necessary. On the other hand if the CAT scan is favorable, there’s the possibility that he can even be released tomorrow to go home. Rowan is awake, alert and speaking with his mom and dad. Mr. Jackson said his number one question is … when can we go to another Navy baseball game? Keep them in your prayers and let’s hope for good news in the next day.

I'd like to think all of our prayers work...

Thank you so much for the update. Whew. My daughters are very upset about this, too, I can't wait for them to come home from school to share the happy news.

This family will continue to be in our prayers until we get the "all clear". And if you don't send one, then they will remain in our prayers forever!!!! Probably not a bad idea!

It's so bizarre, my heart actually feels lighter right now!..Thanks.

Subject: Rowan Jackson (the boy that was hit by a foul ball) Update

I just spoke to his grandmother and he is being released from the hospital
today. The bleeding has stopped and the doctor's have said that it looks
like he will be just fine. The Navy Baseball team is planning on honoring
him a week from Saturday when Navy plays Holy Cross in the first round of
the Patriot League Baseball Tournament.

Not exactly sure what the Naval Academy will do to make this little boy feel special, but I think it is very honorable that they are waiting for the Holy Cross team to return to town so that the unfortunate young man who had the terrible bad luck of having the bat in his hand just millaseconds before the accident happened, will be back in town to first hand witness the God-given miracle of this child being OK. I have seen how the Academies honor children through "Make A Wish Foundation" and it so incredibly heartwarming when you see a little guy in a flight suit, military uniform, etc.

I will certainly keep everyone posted and see if a picture or two can't be shared...

The latest little note amongst our Navy Baseball Parents Club:

Just a very quick follow-up. (Son's name) called me this afternoon and asked me: "Guess what I'm doing?" Before I could venture a guess he said: "Hanging out with Rowan at the ball field!!" Rowan's dad brought him to the field today and he cavorted with a number of the ball players, tossing around a baseball- just having a blast on the diamond, with his new buddies. Hey, that's as good as it gets...............................
Thank you everyone for your concerns and prayers...........
