If my son enters college and chooses a Pre-Engineering Program, (2 years then transfers to another engineering school to complete his degree ) would he have to sit out for a year? I am wondering if the NCAA will waive the 1 year sit out rule if you are enrolled in a Pre-Professional program. Does anyone have any in site on this?

I believe the degree program choice is completely irrelevant to transfer rules. Otherwise it could be used to skirt transfer rule, i.e., kid enrolls 1.5 yrs as communication major, changes to Pre-program last semester, then transfers.
You have to complete 2, sometimes 3 years of pre-engineering specific coursework to be eligible to transfer so I don't see where that would apply, but you may be correct. Thanks for the feedback.
