I also agree with Panther Dad.... I think those kids will really help PESH. I know those kids haven't had much experience but I think they will be fine. As for Plano, I agree with Vaughn... Plano had one of the disticts best pitchers last year and this year they have a kid that's just as good or if not better. But thats not the only reason why their pitching will be pretty good this year. Like GMV said, they have some kids that will get it done and will open some eyes once the season starts. As for Allen... They have so many kids to choose from but why aren't they so dominate? Just think if all the Plano schools were one again... That team would be stacked.

Being the hip, young thing I am, I would take lame over the f-bomb droppings we were subjected to at one ballpark we attended.
Apparently, the music hadn't been censored beforehand.
Now, I realize kids have the option to listen to any venue they please, but I had a younger sibling with me and didn't find it appropriate for his listening pleasure.

(I know, get me a cane.)

Dude, I am so confused....you are the one that used the adjective "lame" a few posts ago to describe the music. Am I missing something??

Yes I know but after I said that, it turned into something bad it seems. Therefore, I asked what's wrong with it. Now you confused me but oh well...
Isn't there something better to talk about now?

Rex is a great kid and a tremendous athlete, but he hasn't played baseball in a few years. It will be interesting to see how Plano gels....they could be the 9-5A surprise of the year.

I hear West has a new football/baseball player in the outfield as well.

Eek

For what it is worth I have seen the Burkhead kid at the cages and at the baseball field several times during football season working on Pitching and hitting. I don't know how fast he was throwing, but when he was working on pitching he was hitting his spots and about ten people stopped to check him out. The pop of the catchers mit was L-O-U-D.

I also saw him hitting and taking infield with somebody the other day at the Plano field and he must have hit 15 balls over the fence. He did look a little rusty at the plate, popped a few balls up, but the power (and ability to hit to the opposite field with power)was still there. Half of the balls hit out went to right center.

The one place he did not look rusty was taking infield, his lateral movement and glove is still incredible. He was working out at shortstop and second base and his range was exceptional, slick glove and strong arm. From what I saw he would have no problem coming back to H.S. baseball. Personally, I would like to see the kid play. I was talking to a dad the other day that is affiliated with MLB and he said if Burkhead plays the next two years he would be a high draft pick.
I am not as tuned in as most but do have a son in the Plano program (JV), at least I hope so after cuts tomorrow.

Regardless, my experience is that Coach Robertson has the program headed in the right direction. I love his attitude and approach and more importantly my son loves it as well. I don't know how it will translate as far as wins-losses this season, but I do know you'll see a difference on the field at all levels.

Incidentally, you'll notice a few improvements to the facilities next time you visit Plano field. The booster club has done an outstanding job over the fall and winter making upgrades.

Trot - I hear they still have some pretty good players at PESH...with at least one that has signed a D1 national letter of intent with a Big 12 school. Wink

The SS at PESH is over rated! Wink
I have seen some threads about Coach Robertson at Plano anointing him as the next Joe Torre. We are all a product of our players. At South he had some great ones. Jeremy Barnes, and , Uhm, Uhm, ?????????????
I'm sure there are many that think he is over-rated. Some under-rate him. It's all good. Cool

Perfect Game rates at least one of the Plano pitchers as the 62nd best player in Texas and in the nation's top 500 ('08s). What were his varsity numbers in 2007? I didn't realize they were so deep last year. <---- I'm just joking. Big Grin

Without question, it will be fun. I think the district race will come down to the final day -- not just to identify the champ, but to sort out the playoff teams. The more I hear about those that wear maroon, the more I wonder if I'll have the guts to show up at the games to watch.

Senor -- call me. Smile

It was just a pair of early season scrimmages, but Plano Varsity and JV played South Garland yesterday. JV outscored S Garland somewhere in the neighborhood of 29-2 over nine innings. Heard the Varsity had a good day with the sticks as well.

I have no doubt you'll see the impact of Coach Robertson on the Plano squad this year. Practices are better organized, accountability is up, JV is actually getting attention in addition to Varisty. It is going to be a fun year.

I don't know much about the other teams in the district, but Plano will be significantly improved and much more competitive this year.

As far as Plano pitching goes, four JV pitchers combined to give up just a couple of hits and a couple of walks in nine innings yesterday. There is enough pitching in the program at the varsity level at this point that there are some pretty good pitchers down on the JV.

SWAC, the team you saw the other night was the B JV team.

Panther Dad . . . saw the smiley after your post. Even so, don't want you to think I have excessive expectations based on my earlier post. I don't have any informed opinion about how good Plano is relative to other teams because I'm just not that much in tune. But, I can see they have made a lot of progress since the new coach came on board. A JV scrimmage doesn't mean much in the grand scheme, but it was nice to see the kids have a strong outing to reinforce that the new leadership of the program has them headed in the right direction.
