rsc211, There will be "haters" at every level and from every club. Some legit some not so legit. Go examine for yourself. Our good friends have just put two kids through the As progam and they are very happy...Son #1 D1 scholarship last year and son #2 just committed to a D1 scholarship for next year.

Please don't expect ANY club to "make" your son into a D1 player...he either is or he isn't! Where you play will have very little bearing. If he is performing as a Jr/Sr he will be on the field in front of scouts who will let you know if he is a candidate. If he is not he will be sharing time with another player in a similar position...it's really just that simple

PS I have no affiliation with the A's (my son plays for the Texas Stix.)

We tried the A's and loved it. Good experience all around. We have seen numerous select organizations over the years and they all have something that is not perfect. The A's are no different in that regard, but overall the experience was a good one. Would recommend the A's to anyone.

I guess the others that posted had bad experiences. I know not all of the parents on our team were always happy. Some just have over inflated opinions on their kids talent level and think they should be playing more and at positions they are not always suited at. The A's did a good job of letting the kids and parents know where their kid is development wise and what he needs to work on to get better.

If your looking for an organization, give them a try and see for your self. I did and I am happy we did.

Don't really appreciate being referred to as a "hater" simply because i suggested someone "Beware" of the A's. Also don't appreciate the inference that i wanted the A's to make my son a D1 player. My son is playing college ball now and is very happy. Absolutely no thanks to the A's.

My problem with the A's has more to do with the owner than my son's playing time. He is not a trustworthy man.
Sorry screwball your experience was not good. I found Acton to be a good guy. I have no idea what happened in yuor situation, but the guy was genuine with us and the experience was good overall.

Glad to hear your son made it to college ball. Maybe you just expected more from the A's than you and your son got out of it, I dont know. I know a lot of scouts showed up for the games and there was ample opportunity to be seen.
I'm glad you had a good experience and think the owner is a "good guy".

However, as you yourself said, you have no idea what happened in my situation why did you assume we expected more from the A's then we got. This reminds me of someone who recently said "I don't know all the facts but the police acted stupidly."

if you don't konw the facts, don't assume the problem was with me.
Was not assuming anything, but from your last post I have to wonder since you are very defensive of the subject.

Sorry you had a bad experience, dont see why it is necessary to defend yourself if you felt you were not a bit responsible for the bad experience. Then again you never really elaborated on why one should be aware of the A's or why your experience was bad.

One is only left to guess, but I was not trying to imply anything other than you had a bad experience and possibly you expected more than what you got from the A's which what you insinuated in your earlier post. You simply said that Acton was not "trustworthy" which led me to believe you were promised something in return for money or whatever and it was not delivered therefore expectations may have not been met.

Sorry to set you off, was not my intention to blame you for anything. In fact I do not think any blame was leveled at you at all, but read into it what you will.
I think in every orginazation you are going to find people who like it and people that didn't have a good experience. Both opinions are probably acurate since every player is different.

To me... its not just the club but who coaches my son. He has been fortunate to have had excellent coaching since age 13 and developed into a better person and player.
Found this in one of your threads titled "Expectations of a High School Coach" in May 2007.

"It seems like all the things that were said at the beginning of the thread that we should "expect" from our coach are really qualities of a good coach. when actually, we have no right to "expect" anything and should teach our sons to make the best out of it, it will build character. that is a shame. if this coach were an english, math, physics, etc teacher we would be having conference after conference. however, because there is "coach" is the job description we can't question."

Reading all those past comments, I wonder what you expected from the A's. Seems like a theme to me. Just my two cents worth since you called me out in you last post.
After reading a lot of your previous posts Screwball is seems you like to stir up things if you dont like what is happening to you or son.

Here are a few of your past comments/questions for this forum:

"has anyone experienced this before? i just noticed on our team's website that the varsity and jr varsity players for 2007 are listed. isn't tryouts in january?"

why would a coach give a list to the booster club a month before tryouts? i really think it is very controling booster club. i'm really curious to see how the final roster compares to this list. see who really selects the teams.

"since this is posted on a high school web site does it have any UIL implications? Since the High School has selected the teams without tryouts? Just curious"

SON NOT ON THE LIST???

"kellerdad, give me a break please. i do not need a reality check and i'm not sticking my head in the sand. can someone not ask questions without getting insulted? i know the coach has a good idea who is starting at what position. however, i've talked with him and know that there are some questions at certain positions.

"my problem is the booster club presenting their opinion of who should be starting without consulting the coach. i would venture to guess the coach does not even know about this list on the website."

ABOVE QUOTES FROM DEC. 2006

"I've got a general question. Is it a common practice for baseball programs to put Juniors that cannot play at the varisty level on JV. It seems like these guys are taking playing time away from sophomores. They had had three years to prove they can play, it's time to let other guys have their shot.

Seems to me they are creating a bottleneck and watering down the entire program. JMHO"

Son one of the Jv players losing playing time?? Posted in Fedruary 2006

I understand it is the coaches option. however, anyone ever heard of a coach only showing the stats for five of the players on the team and ignoring all the rest? This is happening at Lamar.

"I apoligize in advance to anyone tired of me griming about lamar. please either skip this comment or read really quickly."

"thanks for the response. when i look at the individual schools team stats I see most schools apparently listing everyone, buck 25 or not. however, our stats person compiled to information for our coach and sent it to the DMN. This was for the entire team. The next day, the coach told the our stats person that we couldn't list all the players due to "Privacy Laws" and he needed to contact the DMN and delete all but five players. The kids even asked the coach during practice why everyone was not listed and he told them it was because of privacy laws. they pointed out that other schools list everyone and he said they were doing it wrong.

i guess the five that remained for Lamar are not subject to the "Privacy Laws"???

Panther Dad, i am not complaining because my son is not listed. He happens to be hitting very well. i am complaining because this is just not right. my son is already set to play college ball at one of the best academic schools in the nation. I am just tired of this coach treating his players like this."

UNLIKE OBAMA I ACTULLY DO A LITTLE RESEARCH BEFORE I STATE SOMETHING AND IT SEEMS FROM YOUR PAST POSTS I HAVE A VALID POINT. I WAS NOT TRYING TO MAKE ONE ORIGINALLY, BUT SINCE YOU CALLED ME OUT I DECIDED I SHOULD RESPOND IN KIND."
rsc211,

i'm impressed you took the time to pull some quotes from previous discussions. to bad you didn't post the quotes from people who agreed with my comments or had similiar experiences. That's ok. If you did take the time to read the posts you may be able to notice that all of my comments are related to treated kids fairly, regardless if it was my kid or not. For the record, alot of my posts were not even about my kid.

If you believe that all kids at all programs are treated fairly and one should never question the coach or the booster club then so be it.
I think you could go to every High School and Select team in the country and find a parent or player that thought things did not go accordingly. On the other hand, you would find parents and players that had a good experience.

Every scernario is different for each family. Luck is on your side if you've never experienced some type of disappointment. Sometimes those bad experiences pay off in the long run for the player.
Could not agree more Maverick.

Always check out an organization for your self and see if it fits for you. Some workout and some do not.

My son and family have experienced both situations and you are right Maverick it seemed to always workout in the end. All were learning experiences.

Like I said before the A's may not be for everyone, but it worked out good for us. Give them a look and see for yourself, you may like and you may not. Just do not trust the word of one or two disgrutled people that it did not workout for.

As far as you go screwball, you seem to like to stir the pot and question a lot of things as your previous posts suggest. I am just not one of those parents that feel there is a conspiracy around every turn to keep my kid from playing where I think he needs to be. If my kid is good enough and works hard then it will all work out in the end despite some booster club posting a list of players, a coach that may have some bias, or an organization that I did not feel treated me the way I might have preferred.

Good luck to all, I will not discuss this any further, especially since this posting was an attempt by the A's to get people to tryout for last years team.

A's are having tryouts for Fall 2009, go and check them out for yourself and make your on decisions. We are going back for sure.
