I've been getting a lot of calls about when the next issue of the Prep Baseball Report is coming out. The next issue will be available this Saturday at The Flyer Classic, which, by the way, will be a great event.

This issue is again loaded with info, including comprehensive conference previews of 40-plus leagues across the state, team and player rankings, profiles of the top 105 seniors in the state, a wonderfully written player column by Harrisburg HS ace Patrick Keating, and much more.

Anybody interested in subscribing, you can visit www.prepbaseballreport.com or call 847-281-9790.

Hopefully the weather holds up for this weekend because there will be some great baseball played at Alexian Field. Games start Thursday at 4:30 pm.

Thanks,
Sean Duncan

I was curious about the Truth Baseball Report. I was very impressed with how thorough you were in your stories and analysis. I noticed that the Mid Suburban League was not very well represented but I can understand why based upon pre-season rankings.

Now that 1/4 of the season is over, I was wondeering if your next issue reflects what has happenned especially in regards to the MSL West and their records. After all Barrington, Palatine, Schaumburg and Fremd only have three losses between them. They must have some players worthy of your attention.

That being said, your initial effort was excellent and I have faith that you guys will have a wonderful publication as you move forward and are able to obtain more complete information. Good job so far.
The next Prep Baseball Report is scheduled to come out at the end of January. I acknowledge it's a longer span than usual, to which i apologize, but instead of putting out a smaller issue (little has gone on recently), i've decided to wait a little longer and have the big team issue. The next issue will be packed full, to be sure. It's already well on its way.

I welcome any comments.

hillball,

Yes, it is a little surprising. We don't know what criteria Easton used in making it's ranking, but I would highly doubt that Easton did anywhere near the research, contacted HS coaches throughout the state, talked to coaches from colleges and universites around the region the way that PBR does to come up with their rankings. JMO.

I got my copy today and it was good again. If you think about how many players and teams there are it is a massive undertaking to put it together. I see things that I have knowledge on that I disagree with the PBR on and since I am much closer to the situation I probably could have made a better prediction than The PBR, and the same could go for a National Publication picking JCA as the best team in Illinois based upon their National Ranking. They may not have the sources and info that people closer to the local scene do. There have been countless times that Basketball and Football Teams with national rankings were beaten by local teams that didn't show up in the poll, but were clearly the better team.

Add to that the fact that anyone (coaches, "experts" and others) putting together a poll is subject to their own bias and that's why JCA is #16 in the USA and not even a Top Ten Team in The PBR.

The other thing that is really great is that if you don't like your team ranking or lack of ranking, or if you think you deserve to be listed as a top player and are not.......you can show it on the field. As a Barrington parent/fan it was great to see us finish 3rd in State last year when the PBR had us... like....3rd in the MSL West.

Absolutely right Sean. You asked me about him and I told you he was good, and you knew that but who knew just how good he was going to be. He has all the intangibles.

I'm hardly the soothsayer on Barrington.....but I do watch the MSL West very closely! I think you guys had one team in the MSL West that could have been rated higher than it was (Not Barrington)
fastball, the point is its not PBR say as far as where Barrington is ranked, PBR sends out paperwork to all of the coaches and the coaches fill out the paperwork and send it in, PBR adds it all up, I'm positive several coaches do not bother to send it in. So, PBR is left with a ranking, not an exact science. heck, most "experts" had Carolina in the Super Bowl.

Boris, those mug shots with Sox caps came from the Silver & Black, not the academy. The sox scouting department has everything to do with those caps on those kid's heads.

Lockport is and I hate to say it, but they are down, will be competitive although and JCA just does not have the pitching to go along with their amazing bats this year.
