CAN'T WAIT wake me when its over....ooopppss thought i was at a bad movie... love you too Sean...you are great for baseball .....i know alot of the local kids owe you big time for all you have done for baseball in this area
Not quite sure why you insist on busting beans ... Your kid made All-State; there's a story on him, full page in the issue ... too bad you won't read it. I know you'll be tempted to pick up the trash, leaf through it, throw it down in disgust, feel compelled to write some unintelligible rant, hit the Post Now button, and think proudly to yourself that people actually care, much less make sense of it. The one point that comes through, loud and clear, is your dislike for the publication, which, regrettably, is bad for me and all my clamoring advertisers.
All I can say is I think your son is a heck of a player and I wish him nothing but success at Illinois State. Congratulations on a great year. I'll look forward to reading your rants on the Redbirds message board next season.
First of all for those who know me,know that i know nothing about baseball.....second of all it was my attempt at humor. You and I have been bantering for some time now. The second part of what i wrote was the "truth" you are good for the game of high school baseball and you have done a world of good for alot of kids in our area, like i wrote, that was not a dig that was honesty. I do love you Sean, even though i don't show it all the time. what is life without some controversy? I will look at it and i will not throw it away because it will belong to someone else as i do not have a subscription. and i need steve hayward to keep helping my son. if i throw away his copy he will be pissed at me and i cant afford to have anyone else mad at me. i am already in the HSBBW hall of shame for my truthfulness. if my son never showed me this website, i'd probably be much better off and as far as IL st goes, thank you for your positive comments. they need some help. i just hope that it is a positive experience for the new guys.
After looking through your All-State selections, I can't help but notice that they are amazing spread out throughout the state. My question to you Sean is, as a businessman trying to make people happy with your publication, how much do you think about where players are from in addition to their stats and performance.
We can discuss all day the selections and omissions, and in my opinion that is the beauty of such lists. But if you were an average Joe at home compiling the best ball players at each position and not someone trying to peddle your maganzine and win over all kinds of demographics, would your list be the same?
Don't read into this as some sort of attack, I am just wondering about the thought process involved.
If I selected the all-state team by readership areas, I wouldn't have players from Mt. Zion or DuQuoin or some other areas. I'm not sure if you're familiar with some of the players' accomplishments in those areas, but they're pretty remarkable. Honestly, I think it's hard to argue against any of the first-teamers. There are probably some debatable second-teamers.
and FM you must know me well....i am 48 yrs old sitting here at work typing on a hs baseball website watching millions and millions of dollars trade before my eyes and im typing a response to a MAN (i assume) who calls me the village idiot. Have you been talking to my family? i gladly accept this award on behalf of all the hsbbw pollsters. i speak my mind and im an idiot. i guess we all cant hit fungos for a living......heck i cant even hit one for a pratice session...it is hard to hit those things.....see you at ISU this weekend, ill be in the jesters suit with a big dip in my mouth acting the part....and talking to people about something i know very little about(admittedly). but i will be having some fun for 5 minutes out of my life
While I have never actually been called The Village Idiot, I think that it is too soon to give you that title. While I may post opinions that approach idiocy, your remarks have always been more of "The Emperor is Wearing No Clothes" variety and are always good to read. Keep it up, but don't claim that title yet.
No hanging chads because this is computer voting. There is however, a sileny majority behind you Sweaty so keep on speaking your piece, someone has to dispute the conventional (and quite often) false wisdom around here and out there.
