Need your advise please. My son is a primary pitcher (LHP) who excels at hitting and outfield. His summer team labeled his a primary pitcher and he hasn't played outfield. He particularity will not play OF in the showcases. We want to be able to get him in front of scouts in both positions since we stand a better chance at recruiting if he can play multiple positions. How can he get his summer coach to give him an inning or two in the outfield and a couple of at-bats?

I know it is hard for most parents of high school ballplayers to visualize this but MOST college players are only going to play as a pitcher or hitter/fielder. Yes, there are exceptions to that but that is the rule for most college players.

If you are only going to play at one position in college there isn't a big need to showcase at multiple positions. I believe your best bet is to identify his primary role and showcase that aspect of his game.

This showcase stuff makes me shake my head

I realize that I provide no help to the OP
While the kid may be a good hitter his team probably acquired enough hitting where his hitting is not needed. While showcase teams first priority is showcasing the talent, they don't play to lose.
