Is there anything wrong with rocking back while the pitch is coming? When I bat my first action is sometimes to go forward or lunge to the ball, would rocking back help me to stop this problem?

Look at clips above in Chameleon's posts! WOW! That was hard. Are either of these hitters getting out on their front foot??? I don't think so!quote:Originally posted by BlueDog:quote:If you stride, keep your weight back and reach forward with your stride foot until it hits the ground.
What MLB hitter does this?
That happens after contact (okay, maybe just before depending on ball position). I was talking about pre-launch. Momentum starts on the back and ends on the front. Momentum has to start and end somewhere. Doesn't it??? I don't think you can hit the ball very far standing on one foot and if it starts on the front and ends on the back then you would be taking the momentum away from the ball. Correct???quote:Originally posted by Chameleon:
If they are not getting on their front foot, which foot are they on as their back foot comes off the ground?

Which guys?
You are by far the King of the video clip! This is amazing that his foot gets down that late. Again, notice the low hands and and forward c-o-c-k of the bathead before launch.quote:Originally posted by Chameleon:
As long as it is on the ground before he starts his hands to the ball it's okay. I'm just saying that that is amazing bat speed. All I got from your Carlos Lee clip was an advertisment for a phone service.quote:Originally posted by bbscout:
Chipper does not get his foot down late, he gets it down right on time.
Thanks! Got it that time! WOW! I can't get over these guy's bat speed! This was a breaking pitch at least, but geez!quote:Originally posted by bbscout:
Try it again.

As I've said before, momentum has to start and end somewhere. It's starts on the back and ends on the front. Try starting and stopping on the same foot and see what happens. Obviously, the more forward motion you have from back to front while your torso is spinning will determine how much the back foot moves as the energy is released.quote:Originally posted by BlueDog:quote:I don't think you can hit the ball very far standing on one foot
What makes you think that?
