if that's the only change you make, probably not. It will just allow you to lunge further.

Learn how to swing like the guys on TV. In the meantime, make sure every practice swing you take, you swing upward (match the plane of the incoming ball's flight) and practice hitting the ball deeper in the zone.

It's pretty tough to do this and lunge at the same time.
No, and it may make it worse. If you stride, keep your weight back and reach forward with your stride foot until it hits the ground. If you don't, spread your feet more until you get your confidence back, that's usually what causes hitters to lunge in the first place. Get someone to video tape your swing during a game or while hitting off a machine. If you are still moving forward when your hands start to the ball then you have a problem if they don't move until after your forward moentum is stopped then you have no "lunging" problem. Get video of Hank Aaron to see what I'm talking about. Good luck!

If they are not getting on their front foot, which foot are they on as their back foot comes off the ground?
That happens after contact (okay, maybe just before depending on ball position). I was talking about pre-launch. Momentum starts on the back and ends on the front. Momentum has to start and end somewhere. Doesn't it??? I don't think you can hit the ball very far standing on one foot and if it starts on the front and ends on the back then you would be taking the momentum away from the ball. Correct???

As I've said before, momentum has to start and end somewhere. It's starts on the back and ends on the front. Try starting and stopping on the same foot and see what happens. Obviously, the more forward motion you have from back to front while your torso is spinning will determine how much the back foot moves as the energy is released.
