Hey guys,

I was wondering your opinions on the different routes to college recruiting. Would playing on a very competitive (Top 25 finisher in WWBA, nationally recognized + invited to premier events) prospect team be better than going to showcase camps (stanford camp, other top events) for the summer? Does being on the roster of a very good + selective summer team give you an advantage in terms of recruiting? I'm playing on the competitive summer team for many reasons, but my main reason is I believe baseball to be a team sport. I see little to no value in standing at shortstop, taking 5 ground balls, then heading over to take 8 BP swings, then play in 1 or 2 simulated showcase games. I don't think that that is what baseball at the high school level should be about. Competing with 18-20 highly motivated players in the WWBA, AABC, and other invitational events against the best competition in the country surpasses the value of getting a phone call from a college coach after a showcase. I'm certain that I will get tons of exposure this summer from the prospect team, but I was just wondering how would it compare to a summer of heavy "showcasing." Thanks, all opinions are appreciated.

If you are going to be on a high profile travel team (and play not sit the bench) this summer and going to good recruiting events, you don't need all of that other stuff.

Definetly I would get in a reliable showcase for an evaluation of your skills and your level. All you need is one to know where you fall for recruiting.

You don't have to do everything, I beleive over exposure is not a good thing, with all you are planning you may not look sharp in August.
