I wanted to brag about my daughter Megan. She had to move during the first month of her senior year to a new school.

Since that time........

1. Signed with Stephen F. Austin State University on a softball scholarship.
2. Was named Offensive & Defensive Player of the Year for her team.
3. Was named Offensive Player of the Year in District 12-5A.
4. Was named to the DFW All-Area team.
5. Was named to the DFW Area All-Star team. (Played the game tonight...team won 4-0, she went 2-3 with 2 RBI)
6. Was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star team. Game will be played July 11th in Arlington.
7. Was named to the 5A All-State team.

She also broke every offensive record at Rockwall High School this year!!!

Man, what a year!!

I'm proud of her to say the least

Congrats to your daughter! That is just amazing and a LOT to be proud of.

With honors/recognition like this from her school and from the district and state level combined with the talent she must have to achieve such levels you can bet there will be many more proud moments and honors for her in the years to come on the NCAA level.

And all of this on top of adjusting and moving to a new school during Senior Year..........WOW..

Congrats

OMG! That is too awesome. The magnitude of accomplishments is outstanding! Way to go, Miss Lackie (not Lacky, Lackey)! In spite of your paternal upbringing... Wink (What kind of father moves a child their senior year? Obviously a smart one!)

I can't wait to read more about her as her college year's progress!

Congrats to the whole family!

Swingdoctor,

I just wanted to thank you for your mentoring of my son. You mean the world to him already! I just wish he had a chance to play for you before you left.

Thank you also for your kind words about Megan over the spring season and for sending her the picture of her in the paper. She thought that was really nice and so did her mom and I!

You're the man!!

PS.....maybe we can still make a game sometime together........maybe the Rangers?

OP, you couldn't hit water if you fell out of a boat.........but you could throw.........from either side. Lindsey was in awe at times.........p***** at others.

Be sure to tell Megan "congratulations".

MMWS........you must have not seen the game I pitched against Terrell in 81....first game the Oriole scout that signed me got to see me pitch....threw 5 innings, 13 k's, 2 foul outs to Sessom at first.....they never hit a ball in fair territory....Don Barbo was DH'ing for me and slid into first base head first and got a concussion and had to go to the hospital, so now I had to bat. I went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a triple and 4 rbi's. The scout thought I was a stud....it was my second consecutive no-hitter and we won 17-0! It was wild!

You're dad was a very special man in my early days of baseball and my life......I'll never, ever forget him.

By the way......how did you play an entire football game with a broken foot/ankle and then go to a dance afterwards? Amazing!

Congrats to your son Michael. He had a great year at North Central. He's got a future in the great game of baseball! Fun times for sure!
OP...I even had a hit in that game! Plus 1 stolen base. Crumpton got mad at me because I wouldn't steal 3rd after he gave me the go sign to steal 2nd. I just looked at him Confused like all freshman in their first action of varsity ball.

Did the score of yesterdays North game bring back any nightmares? South San West put a whoopin on us big time by almost the same score.

LA,

I forgot that you would have been there that day! That was a crazy game. I wonder why Crumpton had you stealing with such a big lead?!

I thought the same thing yesterday about the score in the North game. They actually doubled up the runs we scored.

Why did Crumpton pull me leading the game 2-1 in the 5th? I had only given up one hit up to that point!
For those of you that don't know -- OP was a HS stud! Smile

"OP" graduated from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas in 1981 where he was a 2 time District MVP, 1st team All-Greater Dallas and 1st team All-State pitcher. He led the Lions to the state playoffs each year in high school and the state tournament in Austin his senior year, falling to the eventual state champion South San Antonio West. He compiled a 26-5 record at McKinney High, striking out 373 batters in 184 innings, while throwing 8 no-hitters and never allowed more than 3 hits in any game during his high school career. "OP" finished his career at McKinney as the starting pitcher for the North team in the THSBCA All-Star game in Houston, Texas.

More than 2K's per inning for a career??? And how did he ever lose without allowing more than 3 hits??? Amazing stuff!

PD,

I appreciate the kudo's. We had a lot of fun back then playing with some great guys. LA, MMWS, FO's little brother Darrell, my catcher Bubba Jackson and many more.

I can tell you how I lost those games! I walked about 10 guys every game!! (not really, but it sure seemed like it) I didn't have a clue where the ball was going when it left my hand. Ask anybody who ever saw me pitch and they can back that up 100%. If we hadn't had such a potent offense when I did pitch, I would have lost many more games. We had a great team back then.

I was blessed with a great arm, threw 94-95mph. I was drafted on potential for sure. I was stupid enough to get shots of cortisone in my shoulder so I could keep pitching when my arm hurt. That's why I never made it to the big leagues. Anyone out there who has a sore arm, DON'T get a cortisone shot thinking you are doing a good thing. You are destroying your arm.

As Forrest Gump said......that's all I have to say about that!

Regarding your batting........even a blind hog finds an acorn. Big Grin

Regarding the scout..........wasn't that the guy whose car you hit while warming up????

Regarding Lindsey........nuff said.

About the broken leg and the dance.......if you remember the girl I went to the dance with you would have gone, too. It was just a broken leg.....it didn't hurt too much. Was only in a cast from Sept to Jan.

About Mike.......thanks. He doesn't light up the radar gun, but give him the ball and watch him get outs (usually).

The guys car I hit was an Orioles scout, but not the one that signed me!! I put a dent in his door, but he said it was a rental car, and not to worry about it. It was all the way across White Street!!

Who was the date to the dance? I can remember a lot of stuff, but that one's not in the brain any more!

Jeff is really looking forward to having Matt with us this weekend. I think they will get the Friday games. Wish you were able to join us.

PD,

Matt's looking forward to playing with you guys this weekend! He's pumped! Kirk and Curt came by about 3 to pick him up for the drive down there. Good luck to you guys. Wish I could come, but we just don't have the money right now!!
