Don't know what all the fuss is about...
...Baseball All-American? Hah!
...MY sons made "Who's Who of American High School students"...
..and I have a monogrammed mug, key chain, banner, a book, booties, beanie, certificate, sweater, and oven Mitts to prove it...

At a minimum, it provides great scrap book material. Nothing wrong with that.

Agree 100% with you Shortstopmom!

You beat me to it, spizzlepop!
An excellent observation, SSM!

From PGStaff, the best list creator, in my opinion.
The list you probably want to be on most is the one that is compiled in June.
Being on the June list gets you a plane ticket and some McDonald's coupons...........
Ask yourself this:
If you had the choice of being on the PG list - or not being on the PG list - which would you choose? LOL
I would opt for the list. Every time.
Whether you like it or not - they are the best at what they do. That is a hard, cold and verifiable fact IMO.

I think most of us will agree that Jerry and his staff at PG are top notch, Second to none Scouting Organization.
There event's are great.
The Aflac All American's are considered the best HS talent in the Country, All 30 of them.
What about the other's out there that are very talented also??
That's were the player need's to work hard and get himself noticed.
So how you get noticed is the Question.
Showcases, College camp's, High profile Tournament's,
are Pro camp's. Pick one? Are pick all.
It's all baseball, Have Fun.

Get 'em all out if you are a pitcher.
Hit 'em real hard - catch them all - and run like a wild dog - if you are a position player.
Play 100% every single second - and walk off the field with your chin way up high - win or lose.
That will get you noticed. IMO.
Yes It's, I like your approach.
But if you live in the Booney's.
You better have someone in your corner( Scout, Recruiter, Coach.)
JMO EH

EH,
You got a point.
Living in the "Booneys" makes it alot harder. No doubt.
But I also dont think there are as many "Booneys" as there used to be.
There is alot of coverage out there nowadays.
All you have to do is make it to the next step out of high school - and the performance will usually tell the tale.
IMO.

A few things I can tell you:
The list in the link that started this thread is apparently of players who have paid and signed up, not all of the players invited. I say this because I know players who were invited but who have not paid, and they are not on this list.
Though the cost of this event kind of raised my eyebrows, the one thing I can say about it is, my son has never once attended a BBF or Team One event, yet he was invited. So there is proof positive that they did not limit their invitations to those who had paid them before.
I do note that I don't see Eric Hosmer or Harold Martinez on that list, though, and from what I saw of them this past few days in Ft. Myers, if they ain't there, it ain't a real All-American event.
Question: If players are invited and choose not to go, will they deepen their reach down their own lists to fill out the rosters? How far will they take this?

Oh Boy here goes. My son attended a Team One event in California in 2006 and did very well. They put on a nice event. However, after that event we along with a couple other parents that we were with were reminded once again that it is very much a business.
There were at least six coaches or Team One guys there and they were supposedly watching everything that was going on. There were NO other coaches; scouts of ANY KIND anywhere near the event.
They had Nike's Truck there doing the "Sparq Testing" which looked impressive at the event.
My own son rated very very high for his age but unfortunately we were told a couple days later when they called that they do not include the Sparq Testing in their reports. Ok but now a couple interesting facts.
1. Another player who was injured and did not do the 60 yard dash, was given a very slow time of the 60, a couple days later when they called for the report. The kid never even ran it. He was injured and they were told before the event he would not run.
2. My own son was told he was a good hitter but pulled everything down the line. He only hit one ball to left the whole day in games and BP. They said he needs to hit "oppo"
We parents pay allot of money to send our kids to these events. Is it too much to ask that they do their job accurately? Some of you may say, "They can't catch everything" they do their best. I think they have a great responsibility and should be held accountable for mistakes. After all the event is NOT FREE.
Like a poster on another thread said " A kid could get a bad reputation or unrecognized by a college coach they may of been interested in" because of a negative comment that was either verbal or posted on a website.
For the record we have also done Perfect Game and found them to be much more accurate in their reporting, and NO they did not rate my son high either just more accurately.
IT IS A BUSINESS. PLAIN AND SIMPLE

I like the Puma All-Americans - but I will still take the Monkey All-Americans over them every time.
Stand tall - and be proud

Do you see the way the Monkey look's at you?
Do you see the cupped hand and flinging posture?
Like come just a little bit closer.

If this isn't the overall list, I would like to see it before I form an opinion about the quality of the list. As for talent in North Carolina, if the list doesn't have Madison Bumgardner, Justin Jackson and Sam Runion on it, I have a hard time believing in its objectivity. I've seen these guys play several times as well as most of the other top rated players in the state and if they aren't the three best in North Carolina, they are certainly all in the top 10.
Any feedback on the Under Armour All American tournament, I looked on the Baseball Factory and Team One Sites and not even one word on the site or even a message board entry!
