I hear this so oftem, and it really bothers me. When training athletes should not skip body parts because it is not sport specific or they feel it can cause problems. Problems arise when muscles are developed out of proportion (example, lots of work on thighs and no work on hamstrings).

It takes many years and some "genetic freakiness" to get big "too big" for sports. I refer to that, because I hear it all to often again.

Train your whole body, train smart and develop overall strength. This is easiest doen by working large muscle groups: Legs, Chest, Back, Shoulders, Arms, Calfs. Don't forget core work for Abs ad low back!
