Can a High School or College coach give private pitching lessons during the Fall, or is this in violation of UIL and NCAA rules.
Also, who is considered the best pitching instructor in the DFW area. I was told Linty Ingram was and was given his number. Called him three times and left messages two of the times and he never returned my calls noidea Any other respected instructors would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all who respond!! Smile

Depends on how far you are willing to drive.

Call Ray Burris at 817.589.9055

Ray has been teaching pitching in the D/FW market longer than anybody else. His success speaks for itself.

But, like anything else, I belive personal coaches are like select teams; there has to be a "fit". Ray isn't going to coddle your son, or tell him that he is the best thing since sliced bread. He is going to force your son to work at his game.

If your son isn't willing to work hard, do his "homework" and show up with a good attitude, don't waste your time and money going to Ray.

Ray believes that pitching and hitting are a lot more than just physical rote exercises. He teaches your son that he needs to be his own coach on the field, to recognize why certain things happen, and how to correct them. He lets your son fail, and then uses that as a teaching exercies, rather than just automatically correcting them when they make a mistake.

My son has been going there since he was 9 years old. He started when we lived in Lake Dallas and would drive the long drive every week so he could get his cuts and his pitching workout.

As you can tell, I highly recommend Ray and Shane. And while you may be too far away to justify the drive, others may gain some insight from this post.

Looks like a coach can offer instruction to an individual, but not from his own team. He cannot hold instruction sessions to a player that is from his own District Zone.

A coaches private sessions must be outside of his own zone, and not with any of his own players and not more than one player at a time.

That's the way I interpret the rule.
