Question?

Go with your instincts. Will the school that wants you to sign now still be around after the showcase? A good response from your showcase results could drive your value up.

I'm just afraid if I wait to sign, they'll take me attending the showcase as a slap in the face, which it kind of is... Obviously that means I'm looking for another alternative. It would be pretty easy for them to believe I never had much interest in their school in the first place, when that is very untrue.

It is a decision that only you can make---if this is the place you want to be for the next 4 years then sign now---if it isnt then dont sign

I'm not sure that if the school really wants you they wouldn't just turn the other cheek. It's their job to sign good players and I don't think (and I could be wrong not having gone through the process yet) they would let hurt feelings get in the way of signing you. But as Tom says, if this is a good fit for you then go for it, forget the showcase, sign, and relax!

The school has now given me a week to make my decision...

I am having the same dilemma. But I want to go to the showcase so I can open up some moe options but I also dont want to lose the one I have now.

I feel so sorry for you boys because of this "dilemma"...NOT.

For you HS seniors

01--if you are not sure of the current situation(s) offered you do not want to close the deal--you dont want to be looking back over your shoulder come next fall

02--if you think something better will come along, it is now almost May in your senior year, then you had better be sure it will happen that way

03-- Dont listen to others--you are the only one who knows in your heart what is right for you and only you can detrmine if you will be happy there


04--- this may hurt but if you were that good why are there not more schools knocking at your door--assuming you have talent what did you do wrong up to this point to create this situation.

Hey Bobcat - check out the posts we posted in 'Recuritng Questions" When we took R to his visits and the coach put a time line on the signing. THere was some good advice there.

He ended up waiting and found a better offer, but then again that was in Jan. This is almost May. When R was making his decision, with PBCC, the coach told him he could wait and take his time if he wanted to and the offer would still be there, but R wanted to get it over with and we are glad he did. This is totally differnt from what the other coaches had told him, they gave him a time frame.

I feel for you having to make this decision. It is tough.....

Exactly... I'm real **** confident I can pick up something better at the showcase, but what if I get injured? Uncertain things like that make me hesitate.

Well, I didn't play summer ball between my junior and senior seasons because of football, which cost me a lot. Then, I had 4 hairline fractures in my left foot from a football All-Star game that kept me out until halfway through this year, which also cost me. I was cast into the starting lineup 4 days after my cast came off, but I wasn't 100% up until a week or two ago, and I still hit .438 for the second half of this year in a pretty tough 6A district.

And to flabaseball, FAU is definitely not out yet. In fact, I'm leaning toward the showcase. I was not THAT impressed on my visit, and it seems like a decision I KNOW I'll question a year or two from now. I plan on talking to coach Roig from FAU today about my situation and seeing if we can get something done. A few other schools (FIU, UCF, NC State, SC) are not out of the question, either.

All of these schools are vying for your services? Sounds like the catbird seat to me, if true.

None of those schools have offered, but I've been in consistent contact with all their coaches for months. All have shown interest, but only know about my abilities on word of mouth from other coaches/scouts. It's hard for N.C. State and South Carolina to come see me when I'm out for half the season and they're 1,000 miles away... Which is why I might go to the showcase.

Both... they've called me for updates, I've called them to update them. It'll all play out.
