I had posted earlier about a junior college being interested in my son. Thanks for all the replys and advice. I appreciate it. My son went on an offical visit today and it went very well. There were 3 more boys there and my son dominated according to his HS coach that went with him. The head coach told them that he wanted my son to play but could not make him an offer because he had to see how much financial aid would pay first. I am single and my son would qualify for the pell grant which would cover most of his tuition, ect. I guess the amount of the scholarship will be whats left over after the pell grants pays. Is this normal? It makes sense to me and I don't care how much they pay as long as he gets to go and play for a great team, and get an education.... and I dont have to pay anything out of pocket. Any insight on this would be appreciated. georgiamom

Welcome to the site. I had a player last year in your exact same situation. He qualified for the Pell Grant. Then they gave financial aid to bridge what was left over. So the fact was he had to pay nothing. Then they gave him work study and he actually was coming out to the good enough to have spending money. And yes this was a JC.
