Hey guys,

Thinking out loud here...let me qualify first that we don't even have an invite to the PGNS, but in case he were ever priviledged to be invited it's nice to be informed "just in case".

Son is already D1 committed. So, other than the prestige of being invited to the National Showcase, what would the other advantages be of attending since we would not be going after college attention? I'm assuming these events are also attended by pro scouts as well?

Just looking for any input from those that attended and maybe even were in the situation. We would most likely attended if he received an invite, but it would be an expensive trip with travel, et. all. Note: we've played many PG tournaments, but have never attended a PG showcase...

Thanks, in advance, for any imput.

OnWabana,

Here is a link to some BaseballAmerica articles about the PGNS. You will need to have a subscription to read more about it (mine lapsed). Roll Eyes

I do know that a number of Aflac-All American players have been selected from the PGNS after shining performances there. In addition to the elite recognition, the week of the Aflac game may be the best time you will have in baseball.

Give it your best shot and best wishes.

SC,

I Have been to the National showcase a couple times and I would say it is a must attend event if invited. The talent level is amazing. I encourage all my players to attend who are invited even of they are committed to a school. As far as Aflac goes...We had a player from the team two summers selected after his appearance a the National showcase. They had seen him and was being watched closely. He had a stellar showing and it helped him to named to the Alfac team.
Thanks SGV.
