I have a buddy whose son (a FR) has left a pretty competitive D2 on good terms. It was a mutual agreement as the fit just wasn't good at this time and his coach has given him a release and letter of recommendation.
His son isn't through with baseball and wants to go to some tryouts with schools closer to home. He has a couple of tryouts lined up with a couple of local D2's that recruited him out of high school. There is one D1 that he is wanting to workout for.
My question, can a potential transfer workout privately for a D1 school? Or would they be treated on the same level as a JC transfer or HS recruit and have to be evaluated at a game or open showcase?
