Questions about Baseball Cards

I've been searching on eBay for some baseball cards to take to my son's Alumni game for some autographs.

During my search I came across what appeared to be the same cards/photos but with different borders....White, Chrome or Gold. This is a Bowman card.

My question is...what is the difference as the starting bids are almost the same for the cards?

The Gold card should obviously be the best card, correct?

Are they from different seasons? Sometimes card companies will change designs from year to year.

They are all 2006 cards.
