Good news is there is a LOT more to playing OF than a good arm......have your son work on running correct routes to the ball, reading the ball off the bat and making smart throws....if he outperforms them in that area he has a great chance.

My sin just attended the PG Showcase in GA last weekend, he had a very poor OF reading, but was a lot faster from the mound....doesn't make since.....lol (IMO it was due to where the young radar operators were standing).  I watched player after player, I was using my stopwatch to record, basically, pop to pop as they were throwing home.  I could see a huge difference in experienced outfielders that took the right route to the ball and got rid of it quickly because they were in a proper throwing position.  When I checked the posted speeds I noticed that some of the higher speeds were from mechanically slower players.   Just thought that it was interesting

That 94 mph is in the 99th percentile.

You have in no way indicated that your son is lamenting his situation, but I am reminded of the advice I’ve read hundreds of times on this message board…  don’t worry about what you have no control over, and be ready when an opportunity presents itself.  Besides, there are two other OF spots out there, right?

On the positive side, the kid with the big arm is bound to draw recruiting attention to your son’s high school at some point, if he hasn’t already.

No doubt a great number. Was it accurate throwing/on line?  I've seen kids who have good velocity at ss but in a game they need to work on location as they throw over firsts  head.

Was this kid a good hitter?  What was his 60 time? Assuming he has speed if he's in OF. Will be interesting to see what comes of his good numbers. Keep us posted on what u see w recruiting.

Don't know, that brings up another question I had. The OF stat was the only one filled in for this kid (He does have a 9.5 rating and a "follow closely" comment). Other profiles I've looked at have the event name, kids pic, some personal details but NO stats or rating at all. I have yet to attend a PG event so I don't know why that might be.

The only ratings that count is from the pro scout, the college coach and the player himself.

Over 10,000 players observed from the Area Code games and Goodwill Series events, I can relate to the 6th Tool the best rating without a measurement tool.

It cannot be measured in one day.

Watching tonight Red Sox and Orioles. We have 8 former players on the 2 teams.

Dustin Pedoria has the 6th tool.
