My son finished his college career about 2 years ago. Took an extra year to finish school and has been living on his own and working for the last year. Doing pretty well for himself and has really grown up and been responsible.
Last night he played some baseball for the first time in 2 years. Joined a men's 18+ league - he's 24, almost 25. He was a little rusty, but didn't really embarrass himself - Lol. Got one ground ball at 2nd and bobbled it. Had 3 ABs, lined out to center, struck out looking and hit a sharp grounder to 3rd that was mishandled. Then came in to pitch the last out. Gave up a bloop single and a ground ball to short to end the inning. Keep in mind, he hasn't played the field or hit since high school. The guy pitching had 12 Ks in 8 innings, so we were just happy he made contact!! He also hasn't pitched in the 2 years since he was done playing college.
I was fun going out to watch him play again, I'll tell you that. I think he enjoyed himself as well. He lived and breathed baseball from when he was 7 until he got done playing college. He was a pitcher only in college, so he really missed and wanted to get out there, play the field and hit again.
Might not be interesting to everyone, but it was fun for me - and him. Just thought I'd share...
