Sweaty, good idea for a topic.

The Top Tier 17U team will be going to the Great Lakes Challenge 6/23-6/25 in Michigan. According to their website, this is the "best 18U event in the Country" (their words, not mine). There are 20 teams from Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Canada and Indiana. Games to be played at U of Michigan field in Ann Arbor, Eastern Michigan U, Madonna U and Concordia.

This event conflicts with the Plainfield Showcase so we are going to be missing a few studs. Nonetheless, the boys will strap it on and try to bring home the gold. Last years winner, the McHenry Hurricanes will be there as defending champions. No other Illinois teams entered.

JP, I'm in complete agreement with you. That is why I pointed out that those were the remarks of the Tournament Director, not mine.

Isn't the real difference the fact that this tournament may have 2-4 very good teams, but the major events down South or in the West have many more top level teams? I've been to East Cobb and that is just my impression of things. Later in the summer my sons team will be going to compete in Kissimmee,Fla, San Diego for the 8 day West Coast Summer Series where the field is exclusively from California and Arizona, the Arizona Fall Baseball Classic with 40 teams entered, and finally the big one in Jupiter, Fl. Like Harry Carey used to say, "it's the big possums that walk late".

Rosy, I know what you mean when you say his words not yours. We (white sox 18's)have been going to a tourney in Cincy for three years and the director still says it's the best in the midwest. Well, to be honest , it is as nice as it comes but the competition could be better. Now, on the other hand the national down in Myrtle is some tourney on the best fields in the country. It is amazing how nice the fields are down there. If you guys get a chance to go down to Myrtle, I highly recommend it. And the talent...badda bing...not the teams, the talent. The teams weren't bad either. NC and SC and new jersey and new york ohio and fla were there. It was fun. And did I mention the talent....wheewww, i looked back and I did mention it...and they had a farm there called Crazy Horse...wow it was cool. Good luck to all in there tourneies this summer. Anyone on going to be at Northwestern? I hear it is going to be a good one.
Sweaty,

Yeah, all that talent. Kind of like the early days at the CBOE!

Both the Top Tier 17's and 18's will be at Northwestern. Son and I will be away at a college camp. I'm really sorry that he is going to miss that tournament and the local fireworks over the 4th. I don't know if they blow off fireworks in California. LOL.

Northwestern University 18U Invitational- 6/30-7/3

Some of the very best talent our area has to offer, all playing in the same event. Should be terrific.
