I found this just now on ESPN. What are your thoughts? I like it, but wish he could have been a left handed hitter to take advantage of the short porch.

The Milwaukee Brewers are trading slugger Carlos Lee to the Texas Rangers as part of a multiplayer deal, ESPN.com learned Friday.

The Brewers are sending Lee, minor league outfield prospect Nelson Cruz and a player to be named later to the Rangers for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix.

Lee was the Brewers' team leader with 28 home runs and 81 RBI.

Cordero started the season as the Rangers' closer, but was replaced by Akinori Otsuka in late April after blowing three saves.

Both teams are checking for any medical issues before consummating the deal.

The Rangers are currently two games behind the Athletics in the American League West.

Finally some legit power in the lineup. Lee should launch quite a few out of Arlington.. I like this trade.

They just had Buck on The Ticket. He says Nelson Cruz is starting outfield this weekend against the Royals and Lee will also be in the immediate line-up.

I agree with saying goodbye to Co-co, but I do have second thoughts on Mench and Nix. Do you all think the player we received along with Lee will legitimately replace both of them? This player to be named, is he possibly a pitcher?

Also does this mean our young guns in the minors are progressing well enough to possibly be up sooner than expected?

Great trade for the Rangers...but Im not convinced Buck gets the most out of his guys...they have underperformed for years.

The Rangers needed something to change the chemistry of the team. They were not going anywhere as they were constructed. Will this make them a better team, who knows, but atleast they were not afaird to make the big move. 81 and 81 would not make the playoffs - lets hope for the best!

Tell me how this trade makes them any better than 81-81? IMO, they are an average team and this trade doesn't make them any better.

It replaces Kevin Mench's 12 HR's with Lee's 28 - That should make them better - Nix is not playing, that won't hurt them and Codero's sucked all year - so I guess that's how it would make them better!

7-4 with a 4.81 ERA, certainly he didn't set the world on fire, but after settling into the set up role he performed adequately. Bottom line, the Rangers need pitching, always have, always will.
