Not trying to jump on you or anything but I have a question nyyanks,
Out of your 6 posts, you've posted this 3 times without anything extra added, care to explain WHY you're advocating this so much over the entire HSBBW?
It's one thing to post a link but it's another to post it and give some discussion behind it.

because its been my experience that everything in that article is true and people shouldnt waste their time or money on these bs showcases. spend the time playing and getting better.
Thanks for giving you opinion!
I agree somewhat, it all depends to a degree, being selective at what you attend can greatly help your chances of 'being seen'. This topic has been thoroughly discussed time and time again on this site, and infact if I'm not mistaken the same article has been used.

I agree, some can be good
you shouldn't worry if people waste their money. They earned it, they can spend it. Plain and simple.
Son attended probably 12 showcases, including East Coast Pro and Tournament of Stars, both of which are free. Was invited to Area Codes, but couldn't make it.
He's in college now, so we're past that stage. I would still go to the dozen showcases.
Why? Because it's a chance to play ball in the off season. Because, often, the opportunity to play with and against kids who went on to get drafted was a good measuring stick, and a lifetime memory. Because it beat the hell out of hanging around when the seasons were finished. Because it broke up the tediousness of off season training by giving a moment to build up to and peak. Because it did lead to the college he attends. Because we spent the greatest times together traveling doing it. Because....do I need to continue.
My guess is for you to be so vocal against it, there must be something personal that offends you. It can't be caring how others spend money. Unless, they're borrowing it from you.

One has to wonder about the relationship of nyyanks to the author of the article and his program
TR,
I agree with you on that.
Lets see - showcases are bad. Yet - just about every single one I ever went to was not only worthwhile - but also alot of fun.
Lets see - I am getting personal financial advice from a baseball coach. LOL - Yeah - thanks.
Lets see - all the showcase guys are criminals. Yet - every one that I know are honorable guys that went out of their way to help my sons.
So - we have the claims in the post - versus the reality.
As I said before - I dont think it is worth the paper it is written on.

There are no guarantees in life, but when a travel team or high school team restricts a player from going to an event which will help them get additional exposure, it is just wrong.
Some travel teams say all you need to do is pay me to play and we will go to all the high exposure events and you will be seen. Some of the teams go and they are just door mats for most other teams and the player may be good but no one watches the team because they have an opportunity to watch another team which normally has 20 prospects, which team would you go to watch?
Short of that, even teams which have a lot of prospects, not everyone on the team gets recruited, why a player would not want to increase his exposure to additional coaches who might want to recruit a player of his caliber.
If you are a high profile prospect, you may not need the help of a creditable showcase, but you are a good player which the additional exposure can’t hurt.
