I'll post this in the Texas forum since it concerns Texas schools. I have looked through the rosters of U of Houston, Sam Houston, and Dallas Baptist University. I went through every player and plugged them into the name search for Perfect Game (I couldn't think of any other way to get info on the individuals). Many were position players ranked anywhere from 6.5 - 9.0. The pitchers (there are only 6 on PG)were ranked from 7.0 - 10.0 with velocities of 87 - 90. Do you think an RHP at 87-88 with multiple pitches and movement could compete at these schools, or do you think most of the pitchers throw with more gas than the few I was able to uncover? All 3 schools have degree programs that would fit my son. He is big and getting bigger - "very projectable" as several have said. I don't know if that is a plus for college.

Redhead -- based on the things you report and my limited experience with these schools -- your son should be able to compete for playing time at SHSU and DBU. Houston is on the next tier. That is not to say that he can't compete there as well. I won't even ask what your son's PG rating is -- I'm not a big believer in their ratings, despite having great respect for their organization.
