2013 just got a blanket email from a HC reminding him to apply to the college by November 1 to be considered for any academic scholarships. It says he was receiving this email because he's in their database as a potential recruit for the class of 2013. Interesting, considering they stopped returning his calls and emails months ago, so 2013 scratched them off his list.

The last line was the kicker: if any of you are already committed, congratulations.

I'm sure I sound cynical, and it's probably because at this stage I am. Don't tell a kid they're a potential recruit when obviously they're not. From what I'm reading in other straings, I have the distinct impression I'm not alone.

2013 - I feel your pain...but you cannot take any of this personally.

Why not? Because none of it is personal. Your son is getting a dose of the real world about 5 years earlier than most. If you help him to process it right...keep his eye on the prize and moving forward...he will grow up a lot faster too!

Hang in there. Keep workin' to find the right fit for him.
