Well thought through + put together. Thanks for sharing what everyone can benefit from today!
MidAtlantic, this is very helpful for those being recruited. We did something similar eons ago! Thanks for posting this!
Just an add, mentioned in posts many times. Have your son get an email address specifically for baseball recruiting. franklinsmith2021@yahoo.com etc.
Also have a you tube channel for videos or google drive / dropbox so that it's easy to see him in action. Edit it to plays, hits , catches, pitches, throws.....i would recommend no music, you think its cool, coaches do not.

Pretty sure coaches have the sound off and are focusing on their job, getting the best players they can. Music should make no difference.
If a coach passes up a talented player b/c he doesn't like Big and Rich - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy, who would want to play for that guy?
If a coach passes up a talented player b/c he doesn't like Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon, who would want to play for that guy?
If a coach passes up a talented player b/c he doesn't like The Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen, who would want to play for that guy?
And for RJM, If a coach passes up a talented player b/c he doesn't like Frank Valli - Who Loves You Pretty Baby?, who would want to play for that guy?
RJM, It would be greatly appreciated by all the posters if you would turn the camera on your ipad and sing the first stanza for us.
Wow, I had not thought of the email thing before. Obvious and a really smart step. Thanks to the OP for sharing his work with the community!

Or Roy Orbison, Pretty Woman! or Donna Summer, Love to Love You, Babe! So...include me in that 60's-70's, Rock & Roll thru Disco! I'm old enough to be my son's grandmother!
Ok, after cutting up, I will try and keep thread on track. Concerning the workbook I put together, it was more the process of putting it together that helped organize my thinking about it than the actual workbook.
This was last year, son in freshman year. Son provided a list of "dream schools". I added realistic / in-state schools to round out the list. Each school links to a tab. Each tab has info on the schools. Here is an example tab. (The phone numbers are the school numbers, not the personal cell phones of the coaches. If you are being recruited, the cell phone number will be passed to your son if they want to talk to him)
Notice no JC's, D2's etc. Early in High School is for the big schools. Those will come later if that is his path. I think if choices were narrowed to a couple / three later in the process, I would keep the tuition/costs, academic/athletic and other out of pocket costs where I could compare the schools. Son will choose his school, I have a budget for what I can afford out of my pocket. if University of Far Away is where he wants to go, and it fits in budget, that's his choice. It would suck to not see him play that much. Will consider a camper if necessary.
On tuition, keep in mind that much of the non-athletic money can have a "risk factor" to losing the assistance. GPA, Etc.
Edit: Update annually for the do-si-do that are coaching movements.

Me too, on the grandparent thing! Sucks to be asked "What number is your grandkid?" First concert at 15 Cheap Trick / Sweet / Air Supply...
Come to think of it, "I Want You to Want Me!" would be a decent one for the video.
I do have one in mind for my son, once I learn the skill, I will post it.

I agree with this, and we did this. However, note that once recruiting is over you need to do some housekeeping. Otherwise, it can create problems, as it almost did for us.
Once my kid committed and was admitted to college, he told coach "use my REAL email, not that other one", and gave it to him. Coach said ok, but over the summer a bunch of stuff piled into the recruiting mailbox, which the kid and I had both stopped checking, and as a result he came within a week of missing the deadline for all his sports paperwork, which could have cost him the ability to participate in fall baseball. Fortunately coach eventually followed up with a text. (which is really the only way to communicate with a teen)

You can also set up auto-forwarding to the main email account... if you can deal with all the camp invitations.

Exactly - he had the email set up to go to his phone but got tired of all the junk and turned it off.

I think this is very wise advice, especially the music part.
In videos, like anything else in this process, you are more or less advertising yourself, should be professional, like you are applying for a job.
It's always wise to listen sometimes to those whose son have found their way to attend very successful programs.
JMO
This is an old spreadsheet that my son used that had the list of his schools and contacts. Looking through this you can see the changes that have occurred in his recruiting domain the past 6 years, but anyone can use it as a baseline if they want. It has IVY, Pac12 (10 back then), Big West, WCC, and some independents (at the time).
This link allows anyone to have access and download. Good luck.
