My son is a 2019 RHP/ utility player. 5'10, 170 lbs. FB Low 80's with good control. Unless something unforeseen happens, I am sure he will attend college in  Georgia since he should qualify to  receive the Hope Or Zell Miller academic money. Would there be any benefit to filling out the recruiting questionnaires for some of the Georgia colleges.  He has some teammates that should be getting scouted this year by various schools.  If coaches are going to look at a prospect, would they also look at their database for that high school to see if other players have expressed an interest in their school? Or is it too early?

I am still not sure where or how much he will play this year?  IMO He should definitely start JV.  I think he has a good shot at making the  varsity team, and possibly getting some mound time in non-region games depending on how he performs.

What level do you anticipate he will play at? D1, D2, D3, or NAIA? There are 6, D3 schools and I believe they are all Private schools. Not sure if they participate in the Hope or Zell Miller.

Would love to see him go as high as possible, but have no way of knowing right now. Just have to see how he progresses.

If your son will be eligible for the Zell Miller, then I would encourage you to remain open to him attending a school outside of GA (if he has the interest). I think both scholarships are limited to tuition, so you still have room and board to pay assuming he doesn't commute. With top grades and SAT/ACT, he might be looking at a similar net cost at a top academic school (your financial situation is also a factor).

Going to college in GA may be the best course for your son. I just would hate to see you limit his options solely based on these two resident scholarships when he could have other, possibly better, options that cost about the same. Particularly when you add baseball into the mix.

Yes,

I know one young man who went to a D1 college, one in the B1G. Well a coaching change came along and it was pretty clear he was not wanted. He transferred to Emory. Many people told me clearly he will be the starter there. It is only D3, after all. I told them not to hold there breath. He had a decent career but was never the starter at catcher. Emory has a very good program. If you start there it is because you are very good.
