My son, hs soph. LHP, went to a D1 college camp last summer. Last week he got a letter from this college asking him to fill out the recruiting questionnaire and send it back. I assumed this was sent to all campers but the young man who went with us, also hs soph., did not get one. Four other young men from our hs, all seniors, who also went did not get one either. What does this mean? Are they interested in recruting him already?

While it is exciting to get any mail from baseball coaches, getting a questionnaire does not mean a great deal. But you should fill them all out, even if it is a school that your son is not interested in. Coaches share info and you never know...
You should expect lots more mail! But this site is a great place to come to get help in sifting through the process.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I e-mailed the assistant coach last week to ask a couple of questions about this summer's camp registration since it is on-line only this year. My last question asked about the questionnaire. He replied the next day and told me that he does not send a recruiting questionnarie to all camp attendees and only sends them to athletes "who have shown possible D1 athletic potential and who could possibly play for [them] and be a contributor to a championship quality team." As you can guess, I'm a proud mom. My son is a sophomore this year and has last week learned that he will join the varsity rotation this year. He may pitch a few JV games in between his varsity appearances. He and two other sophomores were moved up, all of whom are pitchers. Our pre-season tournament is two weeks from today and I'm hoping for a great season for him and the team. My son is very humble but also knows he has an advantage of being a 6'2" LHP and he knows who to give the Glory to as he is the only left-hander in our immediate or close family. He still works hard, though, both on the field and with his private pitching instructor. He is also working harder in the classroom and spending more time with his homework. I wish I could keep him this age forever, but I know he is only given to me for a little while and he'll soon grow up and be out in this big world. So, I cover him in prayer every day.
