I am from WA, I have a highlight tape of myself, and I was wondering what colleges need to see you in person, which schools can get interested off just a highlight tape??? I'm really not sure who if any go just off a tape, but it would be really hard and expensive to visit some of the schools that I'm interested in.

BTW I want to go somewhere out of the area, which makes my question more important to my college search.

Thanks

I have done all the Baseball NW events the past three years, including the NW Championships. I did not get invited to the NW Championships this year, presumably (I don't know if I spelled that right) because I had a $500 gift certificate for BBNW. Ever since I sent in that gift certificate I have not been invited to anything or gotten any of their mailings. I assume they know they aren't making money off me so why invite me. But that's just a theory.
Unfortunately for you, schools do not go to WA to look for players, unless you are going to UofW you will have to plan to leave the area. I would select the schools you are interested in that match your ability and go to their camp. For example don’t go to the University of Miami camp if you have no chance of playing there. Find a scout who can give you an honest assessment of where you can play. By all means send out emails with links of video first so they at least have you on their radar. Schools will want to see you play, and you can assume that they will want to see you more than once unless of course you are 6’5” and throwing 93.
BOF,

The first one is invite only, and as I said they won't send me anything or invite me to anything. It was all well and good when I was sending checks in to them, but I get a hold of a gift certificate and I'm persona non grata. I've even called them, no answer. I would even be willing to just pay the money, but they don't even answer my calls or respond to my emails now.

The second link is to a local league. The teams on there are some of the teams I play against, but none of them go out of state.

The third link is to one of the teams in that league, again, no out of state.

I guess I could see if one of those coaches knows a scout, though, and get an evaluation that way. I don't want to ask any old coach for an evaluation, because you don't know how much they know.

Thanks for trying.

How about the PG NW Top Prospect Showcase Aug 21-22 at Newport HS in Bellevue WA ? It's going to cost some but perhaps fulfill the scouting need and college contacts. Be sure you want to attend college far from home because it takes a rare freshman to flourish 600 miles away from all your family and support. It sounds appealing but unless you are an extremely independent and strong personality it can be a struggle. If you have a specific school in mind, plan a trip there and get in to see the coach if possible. You may have to walk on unrecruited. Not the easiest but it's been done.
I got invited to the PG NW, so I'll do that. I wasn't even thinking about that when I was thinking about an evaluation. As far as going away from home, I am an independent person who will go wherever it takes (Japan?) to keep the dream going. One of the problems with staying in state is that basically all the kids in this state, (with few exceptions) are basically vying for a spot on one of three rosters (UW, WSU, Gonzaga), and Seattle U is on its way to being D1. There is a ton of talent in this state, which is why WSU and Gonzaga are almost always in the field of 64, and UW is on its way. There is an ultra competitive JC league in the NW with the players who didn't get to go to one of the three D1's. I just don't want to go on the same path as everyone else, and going out of the NW looks like a great option for me.

If you drew a line from top to bottom cutting ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, and TX in half, there are 48 D1 baseball schools west of that line. There are over 200 eastof that line. I'm sure the numbers are the same for D2 and so on.
