I somewhat enjoy reading these mass, blanketed emails from schools for recruiting purposes. Some totally blow smoke up players’ asses by writing they have been identified as a major prospect. However the body of the email goes to everyone and has a different font than the player’s name…

I keep getting emails sent to me intended for my son from Limestone University. The aggressive digital marketing gets your attention. I never heard of the school and just looked them up. The roster has close to 70 players!

I guess the emails have helped this school get players and most importantly boost enrollment.

I wonder how well programs do with mass emails and recruiting.

Limestone has about 70 players on every team.  I think someone said their enrollment is 80% athletes.  People around here think it is a big deal to get an invite to one of their camps.  I'm like keep paying those salaries.

Son got them until this year about showcases, wanting him to do this or that.  He is a senior in college this year.

My son got a ton of mass emails from one particular school, they stood out for being written to seem particularly personal, but he had no interest in the school so we never followed up. I admired their tech skills in crafting those emails, though.

Just looked them up - they only have 35 on their team, so they were not doing it for big numbers.

Mind you, mine also graduated HS in 2019, and I today got an email from a baseball company that says "If you are receiving this email you have either attended a xx event in the past or are scheduled to attend a xx event in 2023" - nope!

I get a lot of this (including the email from Limestone University).  These (mass emails) is what led me to develop a perception that prospect camps/showcases at colleges as just a money maker unless you are specifically invited by the coach, or my son's travel coach told him to go that that specific camp.  There is a different thread here where someone said that going to college camps worked the best for them and I replied that I avoided those bec I thought they are just money makers.
