Watching with very cautious optomism. Beckett is the money guy and he obviously is not 100%. I really don't see them making a run. (secretly hoping for a 2004 type miracle comeback from the dead and buried)
I may be wrong but a disaster of bibical proportions would have to take place before the Rays give this up.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but it is hard to argue with the play of the Rays. Last night was ugly! The youthful energy of the Rays is exciting, but wouldn't it be thrilling to see the Red Sox make this into a competition though!?!
IMO what we are seeing with the Red Sox is very typical in recent years with teams that go late into the playoff the year before.
In 2005 the Red Sox didn't make the playoffs after winning in 2004 (they had an older team then). The White Sox did not make the playoffs the year after their World Series win.
These teams play an entire month later in the year and the long term fatigue and wear and tear (especially on veteran teams) takes its toll.

It is either Rays in 5 or Red Sox in 7, because that's what the Red Sox do.
Rays are playing well and Longoria looks like the real deal.
