Have read and read on here and via Google and need some point of clarity. My freshman is being talked to about redshirting, he is at a D1. If he gets in for just 1 AB, pinch run or whatever during this season then he cant use a redshirt at all is that correct???

That is correct.
Yes he has been assigned a Summer League already and NO he has not had any AB or anything. The coach had brought in a JUCO kid well after he signed my son coupled with a Jr kid that didnt get a lot of PT last year. He spoke to the coach yesterday and they said they MAY do this.
