I was quite surprised as well from the performance from Clayton Welch. As my son has faced him many times before in Babe Ruth and Youngsville. Supposedly (now this is according to my son, who talks to Welch every once and while) his tendinitis is coming back and was a problem at the end of his season last year.

He still had some good speed on the ball, but it did look like he was sort of short arming it. The balks were the craziest thing of the night though. I have never seen him balk once in any of the games I've watched. Nothing looked different in his motion or delivery and he certainly looked puzzled as well.

7 strikeouts in 5 1/3, 3 walks, a hit batter and 6 hits along with 4 errors sums it all up. I have no clue if he is trying to hard to win the game by himself, but if he doesn't trust his defense that soon will be the case.

Overall he still did well, my kid struck out twice against him (Bummer!). I know during All-Stars of Babe Ruth last year he was taking physical therapy and a weight lifting program for the tendinitis (apparently in his throwing elbow).

I wish him the best of luck the rest of the year and hope he gets rid of that injury bug. Never want to see such a young player injured!
I'm heading north to Concord tonight to watch Goffstown take on Concord. My son tells me big Bisceglia is going for them. He's had some real good outings this year for them. I may be a little biased since my son is the starting 2nd baseman for the G-town team but this team is very good. Up and down the lineup they have kids that can swing the bat and with the return of big lefty Ryan Smith to the pitching rotation, they have some quality arms as well. Look for Goffstown to be a top class L team this year. I'll post results of today's game tonight.

Funny... Riley is in my facility right now and I asked him about FP. This information isn't accurate... not yet anyway. Let the kids have their moment, sign a NLI or at least commit 100% and share it with family/friends/coaches/teammates.

PS Parents read this stuff. Make sure you have correct info before telling the world what their kids are doing. (Hi Allan!)

I like discussion boards, I like opinions, but there needs to be respect for players. If I told an umpire something on the field, I'd expect it to stay on the field. Just like what you say in the clubhouse stays in the clubhouse. You don't know if college coaches read this and give up on a player because they read he is committed and allocate resources in a new direction... And no, I'm not overreacting.

Yeah you are.

I wasn't aware of umpire to player confidentiality, I'm no umpire but is there some oath of silence? If you don't want people to discuss what you're college selection is or may be than don't talk about it. We're not talking about 14 year olds we're talking about high school seniors, adults.

It'd be different if it was something like "Hey I'm leaning towards big state but haven't made a choice yet." But if you ask a guy what he's doing and he tells you and offers no disclaimer are you suppose to use your ESP to figure out if its official, if he's signed anything, etc.?

Goffstown 10 run ruled Concord today 12-2. Big lefty Mike Bisceglia pitched a pretty flawless game and had great command of all his pitches. He also hit a 2 run bomb in the first and an rbi double in the third. LF Colby Couture also had a great game by hitting a 3 run bomb in the 2nd and an rbi double to RF in the 4th. SS Palmer, 2B Glauser and CF York all collected 2 base hits a piece as well. Concord has a pretty young team and I hear they lost their starting catcher to grades so they did make some defensive miscues in the infield and their outfielders had a really tough time judging balls. Really liked their 2nd pitcher though who is a sophomore and has a big upside as well as their soph SS. Should be a couple of good players to watch.
Somersworth once again squanders a comfortable lead late in the game, and still finds a way to pull out a win. Beat undefeated Farmington tonight 5-3 in 9 innings. Sophmore Josh Jaques came out of the game after 5 winning 3-0, giving up just 2 hits and one walk. Parma had control problems and walked in two. Inning ended in a 3-3 tie. In the 9th with 2 men on Justin Becky rips a shot over the left fielder with the game winning double. DJ Colbert came in and got the save.
Farmington shortstop Cody Healy had a great game. Robbed us of several hits that prevented runs from scoring, we should have been up by 6.

"There is no such thing as a comfortable lead"
Just got word that Salem, led by Nick Poore's pitching, beat BG today 5-0. The call was from a BG parent, so the only info I got was Billy Moore and Alex Trammell got hits for BG, but it sounds like Poore was on top of his game and hits for BG were limited.

More info came in...
Poore only gave up those two hits. Treff (spelling?), Salem's catcher, hit a home run their 5-hitter hit a 3-run bomb too.

Just caught the Central @ Londonderry game and Central won 5-1. Not sure who the Central Pitcher was (not Kevin Veilleux)but he pitched well, kept Londonderry bats quite for all of the game. Looks like almost any teams bats can go south for most of the games I have seen. Except for Goffstown seems like they are in mid season form already.
Merrimack 4 Pinkerton 3

Hudon 7 IP for the W, Feeney 6 IP in the Loss

For Pinkerton Tyler Pacheco stung a couple balls well had a single in the third and would score from first on a Zach Mathieu single on a perfectly executed hit and run. Tom Hudon had two hits and two RBI to help his own cause. Pinkerton lead off man Chris Guerrera, had three singles. Merrimack Jr. SS Distasio had a nasty diving grab to go along with at least one hit. He's a solid ball player.

Goffstown beat Timberlane today 8-4. Timberlane pitcher (Singster?)had Goffstown off balance the first 4 innings and they led 3-2 when Goffstown came to bat in the bottom of the 5th. Things came undone quickly as a leadoff walk and a monster 2 run shot by SS Riley Palmer to right center propelled the Grizzles through the entire lineup as they were able to drop a 6 spot on Timberlane to take a commanding lead of 8-3 after 5. Lefty Ryan Smith went 6 innings giving up 3 earned. He was a little shaky early but settled in late. Timberlane was definitely better than what their record shows and put up a good fight. Goffstown just has alot of hitters that can keep coming at you up and down the lineup.
Con-Val 4
Bedford 3

A s****** Con-Val team made the most of 3 hits and 5 walks. They scored 1 in b5 and 1 in b6 to erase a 3-2 deficit. #2 (righty - sorry didn't get the name) started for Con-Val and was relieved by Pat Tempone in the top of the 5th. Tempone did not allow a run and he added an RBI double in the first. Joey Maher pitched well for Bedford, striking out 10, but 2 of the walks scored. Bedford had 8 hits from Maher(3-4,2B,2RBI), Zach Husband(2-4,2B,2R,1SB), Mike Laflamme(2-3,1R,2SB) and Kevin White(1-3,2B,1RBI)
Con-Val was home so Maher went 5 2/3 - Matt Woodmansee came in and got the strikeout to end the 6th and give Bedford one last shot in the top of the 7th. Game ended on a groundout to the ss (all 3 outs in the 7th were 6-3) with a runner on second. Both the runs in the 5th and 6th by Con-Val were unearned. Their leadoff hitter (#13 - Baxter) was key in both runs. He worked an 8-9 pitch walk to leadoff the 5th and scored the tying run. In the 6th a throwing error extended the inning and put the runner on second. Baxter delivered a double just inside the third base bag on a 3-2 count. That's why I said they were s-c-r-a-p-p-y.

Tough lineup to pitch against, but that field they play on is not only a joke, but an injury waiting to happen. The condition of the outfield is bad enough, but when you add in the 10 foot hill that runs from left to center, it's like playing the outfield while trying to scale a mountain. It's crazy how when the power guys on the opposition come to the plate, the LF climbs up and plays on top of the hill. I can't believe the state allows games to be played in such an unsafe setting.
I am up in Littleton tonight and tomorrow any players or parents from the greater Littleton, NH area on this message board? I am up here for work figured I would take in a game however the weather report is calling for 6 to 12 inches up here. If anyone from the Littleton area is interested in learning about the Showcase league let me know we can meet and discuss. That includes people from Vermont. Let me know.
