North game today at Central is ppd. until tomorrow, 4/29 at 4:00, Gill Stadium
Anyone know how the St. Thomas / Portsmouth game played out at Cooperstown?
Rained Out
COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Of hats and no game and a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Neither Portsmouth High School's Conor Trefethen nor St. Thomas Aquinas' Jordan Bean — former teammates on the Portsmouth team that made it to the U.S. semifinals of the Little League World Series in 2006 — returned home having played against each other on hallowed Doubleday Field.
Due to field and weather conditions, in what was hyped as a rematch of last year's Class I championship game, the two rivals didn't get to play Tuesday, and the game will be re-scheduled to be played at a later date back home.
Disappointed they didn't play? Yes. As Portsmouth coach Tim Hopley noted, the game would have put a "nice little bow on the trip." What two undefeated teams (Portsmouth is 4-0 and STA, 5-0) wouldn't want to play each other to enrich their Cooperstown experience?

Today's game betweem Goffstown at Nashua South has been postponed till tommorrow 4PM. Guess you could say, "Same bat time, same bat channel."
I'm headed up to Merrimack vs. Trinity, I hope that game is on still I haven't heard otherwise.

what are the thoughts of top game to see on Friday April 30th? Any games at gill or holman? Where's hopkinton, somersworth and winnisquam playing? Suggestions?
Nashua North's game vs Central was postponed till tomorrow.
Nashua North will be at Holman on Friday against Alvirne I believe.

Winnisquam is off until Tuesday.
Hopkinton played today at home against Hillsboro and won 8-6.
Nashua North goes to 4-2 with 10-1 win over Central at Gill. Morency went 5 innings for the win and kept Central bats quiet. North had 13 hits total with Morency, Mcgowan, Karkanis, Breen, Guidice all with 2 hits each. Game was close till the 5th tied up 1-1 till the bats came alive for North and some untimely errors by central. Kevin Veilleux pitched well until the 5th inning when North tagged him for 4 or 5 runs. Louis Tarintino came in the 6th, 7th to close it out for North. North @ Alvirne at Holman Friday.

Mike, No real good games in Class M Friday, but Wed 5/5/10 Hopkinton will be at Somersworth, I'll buy you a hot dog if you show. Should be a great game.

Cinco de Mayo road trip, make it a taco instead of a hot dog!
Souhegan remains undefeated, beating Monadnock 7-0. Matt Schagrin picks up his third win of the year for the 5-0 Sabers. Sophomore Rob McCormick pitched the 6th and 7th for his first Varsity action, securing the shutout. Hession and Petropolous each had a good day at the plate.
Trinity 14-11 at Dover. Crazy Game I heard.
Hamel (2B) - Grand Salami in 6th.
Hamel (2B) - Grand Salami in 6th.
Souhegan remains undefeated, beating Hollis Brookline to move to 6-0. Ugly game...they spotted HB a 7 run lead. The starter for Souhegan, Aunio, didn't retire a batter. Bats for SHS woke up in the fifth plating 4, and in the sixth getting another four. HB had a chance in the top of the 7th but ran themselves into outs. HB Coach looked like he was going to kill somebody.
STA squeeked by Kennett today 11-3. Trailed after 3inn 3-2...After a 10 day layoff the rust showed. Jordan bean pitched 5 full and Eddie conroy finished up the last 2. Ken grade and Ben Johnson had HR.
PS>>> anyone know why the class I standings are not in yet... all other classes are (and have been) posted.

@ Nashua, NH (Holman Stadium)

Alvirne beat Nashua North 8-0 tonight at Holman Stadium. Travis Terrill did a great job PITCHING tonight. Great sequences, stayed away from the middle of the plate with four pitches, gave up only 4 hits with 7 K's and one BB on (my count) 99 pitches. It was very enjoyable to watch. He also helped his own cause with a two run triple. The rest of Alvirne offense was pretty spread out - in addition to Terrill's triple, runs came on a Colton Houle sac fly, an RBI groundout by Ethan Hurley, an RBI single from David Coleman, and 3 RBI from Alex Russo (2-run double, RBI groundout.) Brian Lessard had two hits and David Webster added a double for Alvirne.
Eric Turner threw the first 4 innings, with sophomores Jake Mellin, Matt Lipkind and Louis Tarantino pitching one inning each to finish up on the mound.
The JV game was very entertaining with a final score something like 15-16 in 9 innings with North getting a walk-off win. North definitely has some young arms in the stable - 5 that I've seen this week with serious potential. Multiple underclassman into the 80s and a couple more 75+. Get in the weight room boys!!!

Sorry about that. "Eric" didn't feel right when I wrote it. Metal bats can really hurt you when you leave the ball up! He'll bounce back. Good mechanics, good arm action... I'm sure he'll start to finish his pitches better and start getting the results he is looking for!
Bedford - 8
Hollis/Brookline - 6
Another wild game for H/B. In what was really a pretty well played game by both teams, H/B took a 6-0 lead into the top of the 6th at Fischer Cat Stadium that included multiple close plays at the plate. Starting pitcher Mike Chase scattered 4 hits and 3 walks through 4+ innings for H/B. Clifford Macyn and Brad Stello had RBI singles for H/B in the first. Kenny Glover added a 2 RBI single in the 3rd and then scored on a double by #14 (Ethan ?). Kevin Chase drove in the 6th H/B run in the fourth scoring Ian Fay who had reached on a 1 out walk. The previously quiet Bedford bats came to life in the top of the 6th. Bedford sent 13 hitters to the plate and scored 8 runs on 8 hits. H/B actually made a couple of fine defensive plays to limit the Bedford scoring including a diving snare and throw out of the runner at home with the infield in by ss Kevin Chase. H/B loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 7th, but Bedford reliever and winning pitcher Ryan Gancarz got the swinging K for the second out and then got the final put out on a head's up cover of 1st base after a nice stop by second baseman Zach Husband on a hard grounder to the right side that looked like it would deliver the tying runs.
Bedford ended the game with 14 hits led by Jeff Gancarz (3-4,2B,1R), Mike Skilton (2-5,2B,1R,2RBI), Zach Husband (2-4,BB,1R,2RBI), Mike Laflamme (2-4,BB,1R) and Ryan Gancarz (2-4,1R). Gancarz pitched the final 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 H/B hitters.

Kevin, They have been testing out a new system in Class I for all sports this year. It's called the Heal Point tabulation system. Go to NHIAA bylaw Article XI seedings and tie beaks to find out more.
It basically takes strenght of schedule into consideration, which could really help in the baseball standings.
Curt...
I get it... that as they did the same w/ s****r. BUT 1/3 or the way through the baseball season nothing is posted. W/ S****r they were posted at the end of the week to 10 days, then updated as the season progressed. bl-baseball has fixed that though. ty,kpc

That was a nice write up and video on St Thomas. They have quite the powerful line up. They are averaging 10+ runs per game.
It mentioned they travel to Bedford on wednesday. That might be a good game to check out to see if St Thomas can keep up the run production!!

Nashua North moves to 6-3 with 7-1 win over Spaulding in an away game. Jeke Melon (sophmore) started the game and picked up his 1st win. Anthony Guidice was 3-4 with 3 doubles to lead the offense. North plays Timberlane Wednesday at Holman at 4:00.
Nashua beat Timberlane 3-2 in 10 innings. Lefty for Timberlane pitched well and kept Norths bats quiet for most of the game. For North Kyle Turner pitched 7 innings with 8 K's, on 3 Hits for the night. Matt Lipkin took over from the 8th-10th and got the win in the 10th. In the bottom of the 10th Kevin McGowan started with a double and Joe Breen drove him in with a double to center for the win. Nashua North & South meet Friday night at Holman at 7.
Was at the Central - BG game last night. Central shut out BG. Veilleux pitched a complete game only giving up 4 hits with 11Ks.
