Remember Danny Almonte

What sort of competition does this team play. They're 52-12, team BA is .403 with 145 HR's and avaraging over 10 runs a game in 64 games. These numbers seem quite gaudy for college level baseball. These stats resemble softball beer league.

NJBB has it right, the LLWS scandel took place when my son was 12 years old and participated in the Western Regionals with Oceanside. My son just completed his freshman year in college. I would guess that Almonte is older then most players he is still playing against.

That said, the age difference is not as great as when he was 14 and playing 12 year olds. He does have some talent.

Wasn't he released from a Frontier League Indy team in '07? DII JUCO must have rather liberal eligibility rules.

i heard he has a decent curve and he's working on a slider, but if he can't crack 90mph, i doubt the scouts will take a chance on him.

The only reason Almonte even got his opportunities is because he's a cheat. There are plenty more players more talented than Almonte. He plays against younger competition to stand out.

Believe it or not, there's several Danny Almonte's out there. Are we sure this is the LL scandal kid?

My personal opinion's withheld.

It's because of him I have to sit at a 4 hour meeting tonight to prove my 14 kids are the age their birth certificate says they are and that they live where their parents say they do (3 proofs of residency).

Yes, he was and he was not very effective nor was the velocity close to the average frontier league pitching..........he was let go rather quickly and as I recall under the amount of innings required to maintain eligibility for naia....

Hey Pat H, you'l enjoy this.

I had a player from a pretty severly broken family. He lived with grandparents. Because of Almonte and the Williamsport people overcompensating for the embarassing situation he caused, I had to bring court documents to prove residency for the kid before they would allow him to play in a district game.
