I was pm'ing with a fellow webster who not only knows more about music than I, but also remembers it. This only re-enforces the fact that the mind is a terrible thing to waste.

A couple weekends ago while waiting for my daughters at to get home at a "different" hour, I saw an infomercial for a collection of Midnight Special performances. Boy did this bring back some memories and from what they showed it looked like good quality and sound.

Now playbaseball... you know that you have a standing invite for that college visit at my house. However, wouldn't it be a blast to have all the HSBBW moms together watching Midnight Special at Rz's (if he has a very understanding spouse) or just make that trip to my house! Think we'd have to have some of Luvbb's wine stash to go with it and we'd have ourselves a very fun time! Wink

I don't need the added pressure of the HSBBW gals lurking around Madison after hitting Luvbb's wine skin My rep in liberalville may be tainted, but I don't need that cloud over me. As a HSBBW group it may be managable, but add my wife to the mix as the more than willing tour guide, 70's music, and you'd have the recipe for a long weekend.

I remember watching it when they announced that Jim Croce had died. They played Time in a Bottle and showed some video of him playing with his son. He died September 20, 1973.

His death preceeded the release of one of his most popular albums, "I've Got a Name." Some songs from that album"=:

"I Got a Name" (Fox, Gimbel) - 3:09
"Lover's Cross" (Croce) - 3:02
"Five Short Minutes" (Croce) - 3:32
"Age" (Croce) - 3:44
"Workin' at the Car Wash Blues" (Croce) - 2:29
"I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" (Croce) - 2:28
"Saloon and Saloon" (Muehleisen) - 2:30
"Thursday" (Joseph) - 2:20
"Top Hat Bar and Grille" (Croce) - 2:48
"Recently" (Croce) - 2:31
"The Hard Way Every Time" (Croce) - 2:24

All of these are great songs. I think my favorite is "Recently." However, "Lover's Cross" is a very close second.

CoachB,

The more I think about it the more I feel that this is my time capsule. Music is a part of our lives and the thoughts of specific songs or artist seems to stir the complete memory bank.

Despite my fear of the HSBBW gals invading Madison with pj's and wine sacks in hand Eek I'm going to put my order in before I forget the product even exists.

rz,

It's funny how we relate to music, isn't it? There are certain songs that not only tug on my heart, but I'm immediately transformed to the 12 or 14 or 16 or 21 year old that I was when it was in the radio....and have the exact feelings and know exactly what I was doing and even remember the smells....It's magic.

There is a radio show called "Rock and Roll Roots" on Sunday mornings (7-10) in Chicago on WDRV (97.1) If you are ever in Chicago early on a Sunday, tune in, you'll love it. It is fabulous--it features a lot of obscure music from the Beatle era to the mid-70's...and once in a while, the host, Bob Stroud, will feature a "Time Warp"--exactly what was on the radio on that date in one particular year---including the commercials. I think because of licensing, you cannot access that show on the internet. But the station does have an internet program called "Deep Tracks" that is almost as good. Plays a lot of what FM USED to be.....

Tune in (wdrv.com) and let me know what you think!
